Job Summary

The Office of Information Technology encourages applications for an IT Construction Senior Superintendent! This role is responsible for daily field activities in OIT required by operations, construction and renovation of campus wired, wireless, and fiber physical infrastructure. The Senior Superintendent is responsible for assuring contractual requirements and overall performance and compliance with OIT standards and safety requirements related to standing order contractors. This position works closely with OIT internal staff, campus customers, design consultants, project managers and contractors to assure timely completion of quality work activities and maintenance of the infrastructure. This position requires the application of interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and grow relationships driving a customer-first focus and implementing change. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Technical Leadership
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with leadership in field operations. Able to provide onsite direction and technical advice regarding construction activity and compliance to building codes, OIT standards, fire, life safety requirements, and quality control standards. Demonstrated skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and independently determining actions to be performed on problems affecting projects activities. Review existing processes to determine areas for improvement with focus on thoughtful change including record documentation, Division 27 standards vendor/partner engagements, oversight of standing ordering contractors, documentation, and knowledge base updates.
Fiber Optic/Copper Subject Matter Expert
  • Provides guidance and training to standing order contractors or internal technicians about standard processes for completing fiber optic/copper placement, terminations and testing. This position will ensure contractor compliance through regular contractor inspections. This position also ensures the continuity of service on existing infrastructure through testing with OTDR, category 6 certification testing tool and using any related test equipment to fix fiber/copper patching of fiber infrastructure.
Contract Compliance
  • Alignment to State of Colorado contract requirements for standing order contractors, assuring that contracts are accurate and in place before work begins, status updates are provided and timely payment is made. Assures contactor invoicing is accurate, change orders are managed/approved prior to work completion and includes materials and internal labor to be billed.
Design Oversight
  • Review design documents, project proposals and plans for upcoming projects and recommend design changes when appropriate. Respond to Requests for Information and change requests on active projects. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
Customer Service
  • Monitor engagements with vendors, customers, and campus partners for quality completion, engagement, and process improvement. Meet regularly with internal and campus partners to understand needs and ensure the services provided are meeting objectives and business requirements, adjust as needed. Resolve escalated service issues in a timely manner. Supervise daily work with the unit including identification and facilitation of request and infrastructure incidents.
Documentation
  • Ensure departmental documentation and processes related to ongoing project activities and infrastructure upgrades including as-built documents are supervised and updated timely upon receipt. Ensure updates are occurring accurately using standard quality control methods.

  • The salary range for this position is $93,126 - $104,749 per year.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in telecommunications, information systems, engineering or other related field. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience which includes:
    • Performing field work in a leadership/superintendent role and oversight related to communications projects, construction management, testing and acceptance,
    • Serving as a lead foreman or project supervisor, directing the work of others
    • Conducting and understanding copper ANSI/TIA-568 standard testing for copper cable and ANSI/TIA/EIA-526 testing for multimode and single-mode fiber
  • Valid driver's license is required to drive campus service vehicle.
