Job Summary


The Colorado Space Grant Consortium (COSGC) encourages applications for the Part-Time Space Sciences Research Manager! This position provides overall leadership and coordination of all student research activities for orbital and sub-orbital missions and develops training programs for all students. The Research Manager also advises, mentors, and evaluates students in all areas related to technical aspects of payload systems. The Research Manager maintains industry relations and pursues funding opportunities and partnerships to support student missions. This position provides support to the Director and in areas related to daily operation of COSGC and helps maintain the physical infrastructure of COSGC labs and facilities.

Who We Are


The COSGC is funded by NASA and is a state-wide organization involving 21 colleges, universities and institutions around Colorado. Our organization provides Colorado students access to space through innovative courses, real-world hands-on telescope and satellite programs, and interactive outreach programs.


What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Project and Program Management
  • Manage sub-orbital and orbital advanced student projects (including CubeSats and other small satellites).
  • Continuously assist with evaluation of COSGC programs in areas of student research based on NASA directives and goals and state and industry needs.
  • Contribute to COSGC Strategic Planning in collaboration with the Director.
  • Enhance hands-on learning and research opportunities for students through new programs and initiatives.
  • Maintains and upgrades COSGC laboratory facilities.
  • Coordinate and facilitates the annual COSGC Colorado Robotics Challenge, and related robotics workshop.

Industry Relations
  • Serve as liaison between student researchers and external groups.
  • Serve on department/program, college, and university committees, as assigned.
  • Interact with COSGC affiliate institutions and industry partners.
  • Participates at COSGC Advisory Board Meetings.


What You Should Know

  • This is a 50% part-time benefits eligible position. The anticipated schedule is 20 hours per week Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday work as needed for events.
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work modality, consistent with the College of Engineering and Applied Science Hybrid Work Policy.


What We Can Offer


Starting salary range is $35,000 - $41,000. Relocation assistance is available within CEAS guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in relevant science or engineering field.
  • Three or more years space industry experience related to the position.
  • Experience and/or desire to work with and mentor college students.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
