Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a

Library Assistant (Federal Work Study)
position. This is a part-time, student, non-exempt, and non benefits-eligible position for those who are approved for Federal Work-Study.


Work schedule for this role is flexible, according to students' availability. Preference is for a minimum of 5 hours per week. Library hours in the summer are limited to Mon-Thurs 8:45 AM - 4:00 PM. (In the Fall, the library has extended hours until 8:00 PM on Monday and Wednesday.)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Work-Study program at Clackamas Community College is a federal financial aid program that provides CCC students with part-time, temporary employment to offset college expenses.

To apply, students must have accepted a current Award Letter/funding and have contacted workstudy@clackamas.edu for prior approval.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Maintain the proper order of books and periodicals in the library, assist patrons at the circulation desk and process materials as necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide customer service at the circulation desk to students, staff and community partners. Use computers to enter and access data working with confidential information. Answer phones, take messages, refer callers to appropriate resources. Re-shelve books, magazines, newspapers, etc. with a high level of accuracy using the Library of Congress cataloging system. Clean tables and computers. Work on special projects as assigned.

AUXILIARY FUNCTIONS
May provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

Qualifications




  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Good time management skills and organizational skills.

  • Reliable and dependable.

  • Able to work independently.

  • Able to bend, stoop and lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Knowledge of computers helpful.

Terms of Employment

  • Students may begin working in the Summer term or delay their start until Fall term begins.
  • All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college and requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
  • Those offered employment will be required to complete and sign forms before initiating background check step.
  • CCC employees must reside within 50 miles of Oregon City, Harmony or Wilsonville campus as a condition of employment.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire.
  • CCC does not support employment permits or visas.
