Job Overview
The Vice Dean of Operations (VDO) within the School of Nursing serves as a key member of the leadership team within the School of Nursing at Georgetown University, overseeing critical operational areas to support the school's mission, strategic goals, and growth. The VDO provides leadership for Marketing & Communications, the Simulation Center, Clinical Education and Partnerships, and Compliance. The VDO and their teams will closely collaborate with all departments across SON to drive strategic solutions and ensure alignment across departments in order to reach enrollment goals. This role is responsible for overseeing operational excellence, driving partnerships, leveraging technology for efficiency, and maintaining budgetary oversight. The VDO will lead a team of four senior direct reports, charged with fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture. This role is instrumental in advancing the School of Nursing's operational excellence, ensuring its continued growth, and enhancing its impact in nursing education.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic leadership to align operations with the School of Nursing's mission and goals.
- Oversee key operational areas including marketing, simulation, clinical partnerships, and compliance.
- Supervise and support department heads and staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Monitor performance through KPIs and drive continuous improvement across departments.
- Manage operational budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic resource allocation.
- Leverage technology and data to improve efficiency, decision-making, and program delivery.
- Lead special projects and initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership.
Work Interactions
The Vice Dean of Operations reports directly to the Dean of the School of Nursing and works alongside other senior leadership, including the Vice Dean for Academic Faculty Affairs, the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Assistant Dean for Innovation & Program Development, Assistant Dean for APRN Programs, finance departments, and Specialty Track Directors at all levels. The VDO will supervise four senior direct reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in academic administration, healthcare, or related fields.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives across multiple workstreams in a complex organizational setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams, fostering collaboration, and driving operational excellence.
- Strong knowledge of program development, compliance regulations, and financial management.
- Experience in the development of distance education infrastructure.
- Exemplary interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills. Ideal candidates will have an entrepreneurial, positive, inclusive spirit that is ready to ideate and build at the SON.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making and technology integration in educational, healthcare, or related environments.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Experience in nursing education, or a clinically-based academic profession in healthcare.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$135,188.00 - $264,291.85
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
