Job Summary
Kutztown University is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly organized Web Content Manager to join our University Relations team. This in-person position plays a key role in shaping and executing the university's digital communication strategy through compelling web content, search engine optimization, and collaboration across academic and administrative departments. Reports to the Executive Director of Web and Digital Media.
Responsibilities
- Research, write, edit and organize engaging web content that supports the university's digital communication goals.
- Develop and implement Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and performance tracking using analytics tools.
- Create content for new webpages and digital platforms - including copywriting, sourcing multimedia (photos, videos, social media assets) and integrating visual content to enhance engagement.
- Review and optimize existing website content to improve search engine visibility and user experience.
- Maintain and manage an editorial calendar to align web content with strategic priorities and key university initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to shape and refine their digital content for web and digital audiences.
- Conduct interviews and use SEO tools and surveys to gather content and insights from stakeholders across university units.
- Contribute to the development of website best practices and strategy, informed by SEO insights and performance analytics.
- Participate in strategic planning and goal-setting initiatives with the Web and University Relations teams.
- Assist in training new website content contributors to ensure consistent voice, style, and quality across the site.
- Support the ongoing operation and governance of the university's content management system (CMS).
- Provide expert consultation to departments on maintaining effective, audience-focused, and content-rich sub-sites.
- Serve on the University Relations crisis communications team in an on-call capacity.Assist with major university events as assigned.
- Serve on university committees as assigned.
- Complete mandatory training as assigned.
- Supervise part-time contractors, graduate assistants, student workers, and/or interns as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in communications, professional writing, journalism, or a related field.
- Web & Content Expertise:
- Solid understanding of web design principles, user experience (UX) best practices, and content governance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
- Experience in maintaining and optimizing website content using analytics and SEO tools.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with content management systems and web page design.
- Communication & Writing Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including listening, interviewing, and presentation abilities.
- Proven ability to write in multiple styles, including SEO keyword rich web copy, web features and marketing content.
- Proven editorial skills with a mastery of Associated Press (AP) style.
- Demonstrated ability to write persuasively, clearly, quickly and accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office communication tools.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a diverse academic community with shared governance.
- On-Call / Location Requirement:
- As part of the crisis communications on-call rotation, must be available 24/7 during assigned periods and able to report to campus promptly in the event of an emergency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background working professionally in higher education
- Background with responsibilitymaintaining an institutional web presence.
- Experience with crisis communications.
- Understanding of web accessibility(WWW Consortium W3C) guideline standards.
- Experience with a content management system, HTML and Google Analytics.
