This position will focus on developing and maintaining data analysis pipelines, processing experimental datasets, and supporting lab members with statistical analysis, data visualization, and reproducible computational workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or R, and an interest in computational neuroscience, to contribute directly to experimental science. In addition to data analysis, this position may involve helping to manage the lab's data infrastructure-including overseeing local data servers, ensuring proper data backups, developing theoretical methods, trying out new computational approaches, and helping improve lab-wide workflows for data storage and access.

Those with experience in scientific computing, signal processing, or neuroscience data analysis-and especially those motivated by working closely with experimentalists-are highly encouraged to apply. Please visit: https://benjaminscholl.com to learn more about our research and contact the PI.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:
  • 10% Support the Principal Investigator (PI) and research team in managing and analyzing experimental data
  • 10% Develop and maintain reproducible data analysis pipelines (e.g., in Python and MATLAB)
  • 10% Process large-scale experimental datasets from two-photon imaging, electrophysiology (spikes from neuropixel), behavior tracking, and spatial gene expression
  • 10% Collaborate with lab members on experimental design, statistical interpretation, data quality control
  • 5% Maintain and monitor lab servers and storage infrastructure
  • 5% Help document and standardize data formats, analysis protocols, and scripts
  • 10% Evaluate and adopt new computational tools relevant to lab research
  • 10% Apply tools and frameworks in data science, signal processing, and computational neuroscience
  • 10% Use or implement components of machine learning, dimensionality reduction, and statistical modeling for neuroscience data
  • 5% Integrate workflows with high-performance computing (HPC) environments or cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or institutional HPC clusters)
  • 5% Support version control and collaborative software development using Git/GitHub
  • 5% Contribute to lab-wide efforts to improve data reproducibility, FAIR data practices, and open science initiatives
  • 5% Assist in managing and improving internal lab wiki, documentation, and workflow automation using scripting tools (e.g., Bash, Python)
