In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $80,000.00 Annually
Maximum $90,000.00 Annually
Job Summary
Reporting directly and working under the general direction of the Senior Director of Operations & Space Planning the Assistant Director is responsible for providing project management, coordination and oversight in support of the Universitys Space Planning function. Primary duties include working closely with the Senior Director of Operations to monitor capital projects, track costs, and manage move and space requests. The individual will manage the Universitys space management software, ensuring accurate occupancy and space utilization through audits and updates. Collaboration with the Capital Projects Staff to maintain campus floor plans and space assignments is essential. Additionally, the role includes leading special initiatives, facilitating cross-functional teams, and representing the Office of Space Planning on various committees, as assigned by the Senior Director of Operations & Space Planning. This position also serves as a back-up to the Senior Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to analyze data and arrive at sound conclusions in order to make recommendations
- Excellent computer skills necessary to prepare documents in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and any other software program required by this position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills to effectively interact with all levels of the University.
- Independent critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving. Must be able to facilitate and lead minor to major initiatives from conception to fulfillment using best-practice methodologies.
- Ability to participate and lead cross-functional and inter-unit teams in a collegial, collaborative, and proactive manner that results in a positive customer experience, builds and maintains high levels of confidence, and ensures strong teamwork and success.
- Must have proven analytical, organizational, problem-solving and multitasking skills required to oversee, prioritize and meet completion deadlines for various simultaneous projects and situations.

Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited academic institution in a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing projects and conducting operational efficiency reviews, ideally within a higher education environment.
- Travel:
- Ability to travel to various locations as needed.
- Must be able to arrange for reliable transportation to fulfill travel requirements.
