Position Summary
Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice/Justice Studies

The School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell College seeks an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice for a Fall 2019 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials.

Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate introductory and advanced courses in Criminal Justice and Justice Studies with the option to teach classes in law. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to teach in our online graduate M.S. in Criminal Justice program. An ability and interest in utilizing an active, project-focused approach to teaching is critical.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond the department to shape the ongoing development of undergraduate and graduate programs in response to new potential markets. Our growing undergraduate and graduate programs are looking to enhance and diversify offerings. We are specifically looking for faculty who appreciate the value diverse students bring to a campus community and are eager to help foster an inclusive campus environment. Faculty in all disciplines at Lasell may have the opportunity to teach in our Honors Program as well as the Core Curriculum, which could include teaching First Year Seminar, a Knowledge Perspective course in one of four areas, a sophomore multidisciplinary course, or a section of the junior Ethics Experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm in teaching and student advocacy; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in department and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising.


Requirements include a doctorate in Criminal Justice, Criminology or other related academic discipline. ABD will also be considered. Prior college teaching experience is strongly preferred.
