About the Diesel Technology Department:
The Diesel Technology Department at Massasoit Community College is looking for dynamic and engaged educators to join its faculty. To fill this role, department members serve as leaders and innovators, as well as outstanding educators. Taking a data driven approach, department members work collaboratively with others at the college to promote active learning and student responsibility. Members work to develop, implement, review and support programs that increase student success while maintaining high expectations and standards. Members also work closely with faculty and employers throughout Massachusetts to develop a shared vision of preparing students with the proper training to be successful technicians in the Diesel/Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology industry.
Job Description:
This full-time position will teach a range of Diesel/Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology courses fifteen hours/week from Monday through Saturday between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM but not more than 5 days in any consecutive 7 day period. The position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities related to supporting student success such as managing a classroom, holding students accountable, and encouraging them with structured opportunities to develop their own proficiency. Successful candidates will be expected to develop fluency with online academic and administrative tools such as CANVAS, BANNER and other systems employed at the college. The position also requires student advising, attendance at departmental, divisional and all college meetings, serving on college committees and other duties as assigned and outlined in the MCCC agreement. This position will serve students in the apprenticeship program, correctional education and returning citizens program, grant programs aligned with clean energy initiatives, workforce training program, and traditional day and evening students.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Organize and deliver class objectives in a clear, concise manner;
- Ability to work with a variety of specialized populations to include students at the Department of Correction
- Maintain an orderly, controlled, and safe environment for our students in classrooms and labs; Ensuring training aids, tools, and equipment are maintained and prepared for use in the classroom and lab; to include materials used offsite at Department of Correction and employer partner training sites.
- Supervise and hold students accountable while promoting learning, participation, motivation, and professionalism;
- Test, evaluate, and communicate performance and progress with students, supervisors, and other departments in a timely and accurate manner;
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse specialized populations to include incarcerated students, returning citizens, and other marginalized populations.
- Meet and communicate with prospective partner companies as needed.
Job Requirements:
- An Associate's Degree or significant experience in Diesel/Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology.
- Industry certifications in one or more of the following: Chassis Components, Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology Natural Gas, Power Generation, Heavy Equipment, Power Generation and associated equipment, Hydraulics and Marine Systems.
- Experience teaching or training in a variety of Diesel/Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology courses/roles.
- Ten years of work related experience in Diesel/Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology, and/or compressed natural gas and electrical power generation systems.
- An interest and experience in working to develop and manage partnerships with area school districts and employers.
- An interest in working with specialized and marginalized student populations to include incarcerated students and returning citizens.
- A willingness to be involved in activities with the student body and interest in providing opportunities for students to extend learning outside of the classroom.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Additional Information:
Position Start Date: Beginning of the Fall 2025 semester
Position Status: Full-time state funded benefited position Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) bargaining unit position
Term of appointment: This is a full-time, tenure track position. Terms governed by MCCC/MTA Agreement.
Work Week and Hours: 37.5 hours a week; Primarily Monday - Friday including both day and evening hours (8am - 9pm) and may require occasional Saturdays to accommodate program needs but not more than 5 days in any consecutive 7-day period.
Salary: Salary: $75,232 -$89,522 annually and is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
