Job Description:

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Aquatics Coordinator position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).

The Aquatics Coordinator will assist in the daily operations of the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, while serving as a competition manager for aquatic varsity events, and helping to support varsity practices, recreational activities, special events, tournaments and championships hosted by the Athletic Department. Assist with building operations and security.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess an ARC Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification, or equivalent certification, or show proof of certification prior to beginning employment.
  • Candidate may be required to successfully demonstrate the following swim & rescue skills during pre- employment test/interview: Swim Test, Brick Test, Legs-only tread, Rescue skills scenarios, Spinal injury management and CPR/AED/First Aid scenarios.
  • Possess a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate. Will consider candidates with proof of 2 years of swim program experience, must acquire WSI Certificate within first six (6) months.
  • Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications preferred.
  • Some aquatics instructional experience preferred.

  • Experience with Excel, Word and Power Point as well as Google Suite, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Daktronics Timing & Game System, preferred.
  • Leadership & public relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle many tasks at once.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with the Brown community.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends during the academic year.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to compliance with, NCAA, ECAC, Ivy and University rules and regulations in regard to operations.
  • The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV checks satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
