The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) at CU Boulder invites applications for The Foundational Course Specialist Position! Working collaboratively with a growing team in the (CTL) and reporting to the Director, this position works with campus educators and staff to develop and use evidence-based practices for the improvement of instructing and learning in first-year and second-year courses, with a focus on large-enrollment courses. This position will help advance University-wide initiatives to improve the retention, persistence, and success of all undergraduates at the University of Colorado Boulder.
The CTL offers flexible and adaptable programming for CU's educators, including workshops, communities of practice, consultations, asynchronous resources, and related professional development activities. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Program Development and Support:
- Lead workshops and department trainings on evidence-based instructing strategies for supporting engagement, motivation, learning, and success for all students, with a particular focus on "scalable" practices for large courses and supporting student success in their first and second years
- Develop and facilitate one or more communities of practice
- Develop and update asynchronous and online resources
- Assist campus educators through individual and group consultations on evidence-based practices (e.g., course design, pedagogy, assessment, etc.) in individual courses (particularly first- and second-year foundational courses and large courses) and curricula
- Participate as an active team member to implement CTL activities and programs
- Partner with campus networks & resources, including the Office of Undergraduate Education, Data & Analytics, and the Office of Information Technology

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of being onsite a few days each week.
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary for this full-time position is $73,000-$82,000.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- 5+ years of professional, job related experience
- Master's Degree highly preferred
- 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience as an instructor of record including in large courses of over 70 students
What You Will Need
- Experience working with collaborative teams
- Expertise with evidence-based course design, pedagogy, and assessment practices, particularly those that have shown effective in supporting the success of all students in large courses
- Familiarity with inclusive pedagogical practices
- Familiarity with teaching technologies to support student engagement
- Experience with program development (e.g., workshops, communities of practice, etc.)
- Experience working with data for assessment purposes in a higher education context, ideally related to teaching and learning
- Experience with instructional design
