Job Description:
What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Editorial and Production Assistant who will report to the Associate Director of Production and will support the editorial and production departments at Baylor University Press (BUP) by handling the transfer of manuscript files, images, and essential information between BUP's acquisitions editors and BUP's production department; and supporting the overall production cycle, with a focus on the copyediting stage.
A Bachelor's degree and less than one year of relevant work experience are required.
*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Assess required permissions for text and art and helping secure such permissions as needed
 - Apply acquisitions checklist to submitted manuscripts, compiling all text files into a single document, and cataloging all images
 - Email authors, editors, and contributors to confirm contact information, and update the press database
 - Compile key book data from different departments for group meetings to launch new titles
 - Help track the contract status of authors, editors, and contributors
 - Apply a third-party list of styles to Word doc manuscripts in preparation for copyedit
 - Assist with the copyediting process and with post-copyedit updates in Word, including communication with freelance editors and with authors, with the ultimate goal of managing this stage of production
 - As time allows, assist with later stages of production, including proofreading and ebook creation
 - Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
 - Ability to comply with university policies
 - Maintain regular and punctual attendance
