Simulation Manager

Division of Health Professions

Non-Unit Professional position, 37.5 hours/week

12-month position

Campus Location: Danvers

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 3:30 pm, occasional evening and/or weekend hours as necessary

SALARY: Salary range $72,000.00 - $82,000.00. The offered salary will be commensurate with experience and education but will not exceed the stated range. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Simulation Manager is responsible for the operational oversight, coordination, and maintenance of the institution's simulation facilities. This role ensures that simulation labs, equipment, and technologies function efficiently and safely to support academic programs. The Simulation Manager leads day-to-day operations, manages staff and resources, oversees inventory and budget processes, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality simulation services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operations & Facility Management
  • Oversee daily operations of the simulation center, including scheduling, space usage, and workflow coordination.
  • Ensure simulation spaces are clean, organized, and prepared for all scheduled activities.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues, troubleshooting, and immediate problem resolution.

Technology & Equipment Management
  • Manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of all simulation equipment (manikins, medical equipment, etc.).
  • Coordinate inspections, calibrations, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Work with vendors, IT, and service contractors for technical support, warranties, and upgrades.

Inventory & Resource Management
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date inventory of all simulation equipment, consumables, supplies, and replacement parts.
  • Track usage trends to anticipate restocking needs and ensure adequate resources for scheduled activities.
  • Implement inventory control systems to prevent shortages, reduce waste, and support long-term equipment planning.
  • Oversee purchasing processes, including quotes, order submissions, and vendor coordination.

Budget Oversight & Financial Tracking
  • Assist in developing and managing the simulation center's annual budget.
  • Monitor spending, track operational costs, and ensure expenditures align with budget allocations.
  • Provide regular financial updates to leadership, including equipment lifecycle planning and cost-saving recommendations.
  • Research and recommend cost-effective solutions for equipment replacement, upgrades, and resource utilization.

Logistics & Scheduling
  • Manage the simulation center's scheduling system to ensure optimal use of spaces, staff, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with faculty and departments to understand operational needs and resource requirements.
  • Ensure timely setup and breakdown for all simulation events.
  • Prioritize requests and allocate resources based on availability and program demands.

Administrative & Operational Support
  • Maintain documentation, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Track operational metrics related to usage, equipment status, and workflow efficiency.
  • Support risk management processes and ensure compliance with institutional requirements.
  • Organize Advisory Board Meetings

Staff Supervision & Collaboration
  • Supervise simulation technicians, assistants, and student workers.
  • Coordinate work assignments, training, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with faculty, program leadership, and external partners to ensure operational readiness (without instructional design responsibilities).
  • Represent the simulation center in operational and cross-departmental meetings.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Sim Tech and Sim participants (actors)

Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in a healthcare or higher education
  • environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of two years' experience working in a hospital or ambulatory care setting.
  • Must have training in at least one clinical health career.
  • Must have knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Demonstrated experience working with different healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgets, purchasing, and inventory and scheduling systems.
  • Experience with simulations utilizing advanced computer and academic technologies (preferably in a
  • healthcare or educational setting).
  • Must have strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a national background check as a condition
  • of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) from the Society of Simulation in Healthcare, OR commitment to obtain certification within 24 months of employment.
  • Experience with accreditation agencies for health profession programs or healthcare facility accreditation.
  • Demonstrate experience with electronic health record systems is preferred; experience with EPIC is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate community outreach experience.
