Job Description:
What We Are Looking For

The Research Impacts and Engagement Specialist primarily supports faculty in meeting broader impacts requirements for grants, offering workshops, consultations, and coordinating outreach programs with schools, museums, and community partners. They connect research faculty to public engagement opportunities and contribute to programming across the Office of Research Development. In addition, the role manages the Postdoctoral Scholars Program, curating career development resources, organizing workshops and recognition events, and overseeing communications and multimedia support. This position blends faculty support, community engagement, and postdoc program management to strengthen Baylor's research impact and visibility.

A Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant work experience are required. A Master's degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred.

A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do
  • Work directly with Baylor faculty to provide one-on-one consultations to identify broader impacts options that meet requirements for educational plans or science outreach for research grants
  • Identify activities aligned with each faculty's research projects for proposal, develop lesson plans, and support faculty in the writing of the Broader Impacts section of proposals
  • Provide Broader Impacts workshops for faculty
  • Maintain and update list of curated activities used to meet broader impacts requirements for grant proposals
  • Maintain database of NSF proposals and awards and Broader Impacts needs
  • Update Baylor Broader Impacts Activities and associated Grant Templates
  • Contact faculty who were awarded NSF grants to assist in Broader Impacts implementation support
  • Develop and maintain new community partnerships and broader impacts activities.
  • Collaborate with Baylor's Marketing and Communication Department to develop, organize, and facilitate nine annual programs in area schools to highlight National STEM Day, Engineering Week, and World Water Day (e.g., identifying research faculty, coordinating with schools or community partners, identifying activities, writing lessons plans)
  • Serve on Transformation Waco's Advisory Committee for the Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center
  • Collaborate with the Mayborn Museum to showcase research faculty to the general public
  • Write and distribute monthly newsletter to Baylor postdoc community with information on resources, training opportunities and upcoming events
  • Plan, schedule and host monthly career/professional development workshops for postdocs. Partner with faculty and staff across the university to identify speakers and topics
  • Plan annual recognition program for National Postdoc Appreciation Week including annual bowling party for postdocs and their families
  • Annually update Postdoctoral Scholars Resources
  • Supervise graduate student videographer position
  • Work with Baylor faculty to identify video requirements for grant submissions
  • Write interview questions and scripts in collaboration with faculty members for activity videos.
  • Provide direction to graduate student videographer on capturing, editing and distributing finished video deliverables
  • Create videos of Broader Impacts events to share with community partners, researchers, and the public
  • Schedule video shoots with faculty and assist during filming
  • Work with Proposal Development Specialist to update funding lists, grant toolkits, and proposed/awarded grants metrics.
  • Support Research Development workshops and newsletters
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
