Job Summary

The Dombrovski Lab in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a full-time Research Technician / Lab Manager. The successful candidate will play a central role in establishing and maintaining a new research laboratory studying neural circuit assembly and synaptic specificity in the Drosophila visual system.
This position combines laboratory management, Drosophila genetics, and molecular biology. The technician will maintain fly stocks, support experiments, help establish laboratory infrastructure, and contribute to ongoing research projects. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Drosophila Husbandry and Genetics
  • Maintain >500 Drosophila fly stocks
  • Perform genetic crosses and maintain experimental lines
  • Organize and track fly collections and stock inventories
  • Experimental support
Assist with Molecular Biology Experiments (cloning, PCR, plasmid preparation)
  • Assist with imaging, dissections, and other routine experimental workflows
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and protocols
  • Laboratory operations
Order and Receive Laboratory Supplies
  • Communicate with vendors regarding products, samples, and technical support
  • Organize and maintain laboratory reagents and equipment
  • Help establish a safe and efficient new laboratory environment
  • General support
Assist with Training Undergraduate Researchers
  • Contribute to the overall organization and functioning of the laboratory


What You Should Know

  • We are looking to fill this position for a July 1, 2026 start date.


What We Can Offer

  • The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $52,000 annually,
  • A $2000 relocation payment is offered for qualified individuals.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in biology (neuroscience, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field)


What You Will Need

  • Basic laboratory experience in molecular biology / biochemistry / genetics or related fields
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accurate records
