California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of over 12,500 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Conditions of Employment:

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Special Working Conditions: Position may require a flexible schedule that includes some evening hours up to 6:00 p.m.

Department: Student Health & Psychological Services

Student Health and Psychological Services is comprised of the Student Health Center and Psychological Services. Services offered to students include basic and augmented health services for medical problems, health education programs, individual and group psychological counseling, mental health outreach programs and crisis intervention for psychological emergencies.

Major Job Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Health Center, with lead direction from the Medical Records Coordinator, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for a full range of complex clerical and secretarial work. The incumbent is responsible for covering the Student Health Center reception area. Duties of this position include but are not limited to, review of sensitive information, receive all visitors in person and over the phone, handle routine and standard request and referring more complex requests to appropriate individuals; arrange appointments; make follow-up calls and mail correspondences for appointments; monitor and replenish inventory of forms and office supplies.

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of office principles, methods and procedures, organizational ability and organization functioning. Knowledge of reception, customer service techniques, medical records and general office systems. Working knowledge of various computer software applications. Knowledge of medical/administrative office methods, procedures and practices; medical terminology, and procedures related to maintaining confidentiality of personal medical information

Ability to operate standard office equipment; ability to learn office technology systems; ability to perform standard arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data; typing and keyboard skills. Ability to clearly explain a variety of complex procedures and policies to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and at times creative solutions that yield positive outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations. Ability to lead, train and motivate student assistants. Strong customer service orientation to internal and external customers. Experience using medical information system, Microsoft software and university PeopleSoft systems.

Experience and Education:
Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education: Associate of Arts degree or Certification in Medical/Clerical office management.

Required Experience:
Some experience in an office environment, equivalent to two years.

Three years of current experience in a medical office setting that has provided knowledge of medical/administrative office methods, procedures and practices usage of medical terminology, and confidentiality of personal medical information.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $2,600 - $4,458 monthly..
