Arts Instructor, Interactive Media

Description
The Interactive Media Arts Instructor will be expected to support all aspects of the Interactive
Media program at NYU Abu Dhabi. This includes providing key technical, academic, and
administrative support to the Interactive Media program and its courses, spaces, events, and
communications. Appropriate candidates will be self-starters, having the ability to look at the big
picture and see what is needed and to make it happen.


Responsibilities

Academic Support
● Running creative, technical, and instructional workshops both in and out of class.
● Meeting with students one-on-one to support their Interactive Media capstone and
course work.
● Creating educational resources (online & print) for student use - one-sheets, guides, short
instructional videos, etc. to establish standards and best practices.

Administrative
● Managing tools, machines, electronic component stocks, and equipment. This includes
managing the equipment checkout system, developing and maintaining safety and
training materials, tracking the quantities and conditions of items, and working with the
Lab Manager to procure replacements or additional items as needed.
● Managing the program's digital assets, resources, sites, and services.
● Providing technical, administrative, and logistical support for program events, such as
end-of-semester showcases, hackathons, open houses, etc.
● Hiring, training, and supervising student assistants.
● Attending regular program meetings and arts instructors' meetings.

Qualifications
Required
● Bachelor's Degree

Preferred
● Master's Degree

Required Work and Related Experience
● Past work experience in University and/or equivalent setting providing instructional
support for college-level students.
● Advanced knowledge of Processing, P5JS, Arduino, front and backend web
development tools, digital fabrication (laser cutting, 3D printing), physical computing, and
creative coding
● Knowledge of common hand and power tools and knowing how to work with wood,
metal, plastic, etc.
● Competency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After
Effects)
● Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: openFrameworks, Cinder,
TouchDesigner, Unity, Unreal Engine, Fusion 360, Maya, Blender
