Description

The Master of Public Health Program (MPH) invites applications for full-time 12-month positions in Public Health beginning July 1, 2021. We are especially interested in candidates with applied public health experience in community engaged participatory research, government, and consulting settings. Our greatest teaching needs are in epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, implementation science/program planning, and field experience mentorship.

Our MPH is a rapidly growing program that offers both on-campus and on-line graduate study. We welcome candidates from diverse cultures and academic backgrounds, including but not limited to public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy, health management, health promotion, and health equity. The program recently completed a curricular revamping of our core public health classes to demonstrate a keen and explicit focus on health equity, eliminating inequities, and acknowledging the role of racism in exacerbating health disparities in communities of color.

The initial appointment term in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine will be for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon annual performance review results. As a clinical department of the Medical School, the Department does not offer tenure. Faculty will engage in teaching, research, and service, making contributions to the scholarship and service missions of the department and school. Our program focus is on training master's level students for applied work. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to devote at least half of their time to teaching.

The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine has grown substantially in the past several years both in diversity and focus. In addition to our MPH program, the Department recently launched a Master of Science program in Health Informatics and Analytics, as well as a Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

The Department benefits from excellent graduate students, collaborative faculty, and cross-disciplinary research opportunities. Tufts University supports and encourages a culture of interdisciplinary scholarship, and there are numerous such opportunities within the School of Medicine, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and our Clinical and Translational Science Institute, whose network comprises 40 medical, academic, industry, & community partners and collaborators.

Qualifications

Requirements: Doctoral or master's degree and 5+ years of experience in a public health-related field. A successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching excellence at the graduate level and a passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting underrepresented minority students. Interest in teaching on-line is a must. Candidates with a passion for teaching, health equity, and public health practice experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

To ensure full consideration, applications must be submitted by March 5, 2021. Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
