The School of the Arts at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in scenic design for its theatre program. Applicants should have an interest in interdisciplinary development, creative activity, and collaboration across the school's diverse programming. We seek a colleague with a love of teaching and artistic creation, plus genuine interest in helping each student be their best by finding their own unique voices. Responsibilities include designing in a season of four main stage productions alongside a team of professional educators and designers; teaching and mentoring in class and labs; and engaging in various forms of outreach, all determined by a candidate's professional history and expertise. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Additional duties include the supervision or execution of properties and scenic painting for productions, including mentoring student artisans.

Start date is August 14, 2023. Review of applications will begin on November 7, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.



Required Qualifications: A demonstrated expertise in scenic design, with a secondary design area specialization. AnMFAin Theatre with demonstrated design and production experience outside the academy. Preferred qualifications include previous university-level teaching experience and membership in United Scenic Artists.

UNO's School of the Arts, comprised of Art and Art History, Theatre, and the Writer's Workshop, is the only one of its kind in a 400-mile radius.
