Position Description

The Department of Psychology at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Applied Psychology with Industrial/Organizational or Human Factors Specialization. We strongly encourage applications from those who demonstrate excellence in mentoring students from diverse populations.


The successful candidate will be expected to:




    • Develop and maintain an active research program that incorporates both undergraduate and graduate students

    • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses related to Industrial/Organization Psychology and/or Human Factors Psychology, as well as a graduate-level statistics courses

    • Develop internship opportunities

    • Supervise Master's theses

    • Actively seek and maintain external funding

    • Participate in service as a good departmental citizen





This position is subject to the availability of funds.



Required Qualifications


  1. Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment.

  2. Record of scholarly publications (commensurate with experience).

  3. Evidence of, or potential for, student mentorship, including in research settings.





Preferred Qualifications


  1. Specialization in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Human Factors Psychology.

  2. Ability to teach graduate-level statistics courses.

  3. Evidence of, or potential for, securing external research funding.

  4. Collegiate teaching experience.

  5. Ability to develop and lead student internship opportunities.
