Position Description

The School of Nursing and Health Studies (SNHS) at the University of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell) invites applications for two full-time (100% FTE), 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor positions. Our interdisciplinary school provides all SNHS faculty with the opportunity to engage in creative and innovative approaches to health-related courses and scholarship. Our academic programs are poised for exciting new directions in the coming years. SNHS offers the following degrees: 1) a BA degree in Health Studies emphasizing community/public health and social justice, 2) a RN-BSN degree, and 3) a Masters of Nursing (MN) emphasizing education, leadership, and community/global health. We are currently developing a Masters of Science in Community Health and Social Justice, pending approval.All faculty are expected to contribute across our programs and synergize with the department\\'s mission, which is to advance social justice, health, and nursing practice through innovative pedagogy, research, and community engagement. This position will involve teaching, scholarship, and service across our academic programs, but we are hiring with particular interest in supporting our MS in Community Health and Social Justice that is in development, pending approval. Faculty in SNHS apply expertise from a range of health-related fields, including social determinants of health, nursing, health education and promotion, behavioral health, community health, social justice pedagogy, global health, and others. Successful candidates will be expected to engage with:

1) diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service

2) transformationallearning, innovative pedagogy, and engaged scholarship in an inclusive and interdisciplinary culture of learning

3) pedagogical approaches for teaching in classroom-based, hybrid and online settings

4) community connections and outreach efforts within a community, clinical, or public health context.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates to support the MS in Community Health and Social Justice who have a critical- and social justice-informed approach in one or more of the preferred areas of expertise: Community-engaged research and practice, theories and histories of social justice and health, health policy and advocacy, data informatics, epidemiology, health education and promotion, and/or community health leadership.

The preferred candidate will also have at least 1-year of experience engaging equitably with communities through their research and/or practice. This position requires, at minimum, a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in a health-related field.
