Primary Purpose of Position:
This is a faculty position that includes Associate Dean responsibilities. To teach and provide leadership, oversight, and administrative services to divisional units of the School of Education un the guidance/direction of the Dean. To provide support to faculty, staff, and students as knowledgeable, experienced and visionary educator with exceptional administrative, operational, and programmatic leadership skills.
A doctoral or terminal degree from an accredited institution in the field of Mental Health Counseling or a related field, with teaching experience in an academic area consistent with the mission of the School of Education. Administrative experience at a college or university; curriculum development, implementation and evaluation; development of new educational programs in higher education; research track record, including publications, proposal and grant development and
administration; strong communication skills, commitment to interdisciplinary education; and it is expected the applicant will qualify for tenure as an associate professor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The qualified candidate will have a demonstrated record of providing vision and support to the implementation and assessment of the School of Education strategic plan. Lead academic initiatives that enhance student engagement/success and innovative program development. Ensure the quality and integrity of academic programs through assessment and cooperation with departments and all accrediting bodies. Assist the School of Education in the achievement of financial support from a variety of governmental, corporate and private funding sources. Serve as the School of Education representative to NCCU and select outside agencies, organizations and institutions as appropriate. Participate in teaching, research and service that will advance the mission of the institution. Remain abreast of current literature, research, issues and innovations in higher education, especially administration and educational sciences. Demonstrate experience in managing an academic unit, including fiscal management, human resources and programmatic accreditation. Provide support to department chairs and administrators. Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and develop productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders. Carry out other assignments and duties as assigned by the Dean and as appropriate to the position of Associate Dean.
