The University of Michigan Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking talented faculty members for the growing Consultation-Liaison (C/L) Psychiatry Service and Nyman Family Unit for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Wellness. These positions can be tailored to incorporate the interests of the applicant.

On the C/L Service, interested faculty can be part of a dynamic team providing C/L services to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital for youth and transitional age young adults with a variety of medical and psychiatric comorbidities including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, somatic symptom and related disorders, and delirium. The C/L team is composed of a fellow, nurse practitioner and social worker with a core group of rotating faculty. The position may include developing ambulatory C/L opportunities with select pediatrics subspecialty clinics.

We are also seeking faculty for the Nyman Family Unit for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Wellness, a state-of-the-art 16-bed pediatric inpatient psychiatric unit co-located within the larger C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. This child and adolescent psychiatry inpatient unit provides short term, acute inpatient care for youths with mood disorders, eating disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, anxiety disorders, and other disruptive behavior disorders. A talented faculty and staff make this unit a regional and multi-state referral site for children with psychiatric illness. Opening in 2016, the unit is a gorgeous, vibrant space carefully designed to meet the needs of the children it serves.

Call expectations are currently 1 weekend in 12. The faculty member can expect to have weeks off-service in which to pursue other academic and administrative interests. Opportunities for clinical research, teaching, and quality improvement are available for interested faculty. Division between the services can be discussed during the interview process; according to the desires and interests of the faculty.

Required Qualifications A Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathy is required. Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan is necessary. Completion of a residency in Psychiatry is required. Must be board certified or board eligible in Child Psychiatry. Applicants must have demonstrated promise for an academic career that emphasizes clinical care, teaching and administration. Superior clinical competencies and master teacher skills are necessary and be an active member in good standing of the University of Michigan Medical Staff. The successful candidate should have an interest in the delivery of exceptional inpatient psychiatric services. Comfort with providing psychiatric care to patients with significant physical health or developmental needs is necessary.
