Digital Communications Manager

Job Summary:
The University of San Francisco is looking for a Digital Communications Manager with the CRM expertise to drive our communications to recruit and enroll undergraduates. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Communications, this key position will design, test, send and assess all enrollment communications that run through Slate, USF's customer relationship management system, including drip and ad-hoc email and texting
campaigns, event communications, and print-on-demand mailings. In this position, you will collaborate with enrollment colleagues, designers, and copywriters to develop high-performing campaigns through creative marketing strategy, design and content. You will build and manage multiple segmented communication flows, track and test messaging effectiveness, and recommend changes in strategy to strengthen results as you help move prospective applicants from college hopeful to enrolled student.

This is a full-time career position, eligible for full university benefits, including tuition remission. Can work remotely.

Full Job Description:
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement enrollment communications strategy with internal stakeholders to identify best tactics to build our pool of prospective students and engage them throughout the recruitment cycle.
  • Create and manage segmented email and text campaigns to drive requests for information, promote events, encourage campus visits and build affinity. This includes creating and maintaining multiple communication calendars throughout the admission cycle.
  • Set goals and report on campaign performance regularly to inform and improve communications strategies and tactics.
  • Deliver targeted communications to audiences using the university's CRM, Slate. Includes creating queries and using filters to ensure accurate dissemination, creating web forms for event registration, and using liquid markup for dynamic content.
  • Build and debug mobile-friendly email templates, using HTML and CSS as needed.
  • Optimize messages and campaign performance through A/B testing and meticulous quality assurance.
  • Confer with enrollment data team to maintain and enhance Slate with the goal of increasing leads and constantly improving database quality and accuracy.
  • Work closely with copywriters and senior staff who will provide email content. Proofread emails for clarity, grammar and spelling. Select and optimize images and graphics.
  • Ensure design and copy conforms to campus brand guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in all Slate communication functions, and recommend frameworks for best practices across Strategic Enrollment Management and other USF divisions.
  • Supervise and train student intern on Slate communications functions.
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications:
  • Degree required in communications, marketing, computer science, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in email or database marketing, with strong preference for experience in higher education enrollment marketing.


Additional Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience working with email marketing and customer relationship management systems. Prior experience with Slate a strong plus.
  • Proven track record of devising and executing effective communication campaigns that generate leads, nurture audiences, and set and meet clear performance goals.
  • Experience in HTML and CSS; solid understanding of the basics of design and user experience with a strong eye toward mobile users.
  • Strong ability to think strategically and to scrutinize and optimize work based on data analytics.
  • Demonstrated understanding and championing of current email marketing best practices, including active list management and database segmentation.
  • Skilled in market testing, A/B testing, data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent written communication and copyediting skills.
  • Energetic, resourceful and self-directed team contributor, with the ability to both collaborate effectively and work independently to manage multiple campaigns in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
