    Department Summary

    Parking and Transportation Services Department supports the University's mission of transforming lives; ensuring student learning and success by providing and managing access to CSUSB San Bernardino and Palm Desert campus; and managing the planning, design, and operation of the facilities and programs associated with parking, transit services,

    Ridesharing, carpooling, and various alternative transportation programs. The Department has approximately 20 full time staff and 20 student assistants assigned under parking enforcement, parking administration, alternative transportation, and information centers. This department maintains infrastructure that range from signage, wayfinding, parking dispenser machines, surface lots and parking structures and manages the two Information Centers at the entrance of campus where students, employees and guests frequent to obtain directions and parking related information. Under the direction of the Events and Equipment Analyst the Equipment and Field assistant is responsible for the review and maintenance of all parking field equipment and infrastructure while supporting Facilities Department in completing various routine parking lot maintenance projects.

    Job Summary

    Under general work direction of the Events and Equipment Analyst, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining all parking field and office equipment, reviewing parking lot conditions, assisting during various maintenance projects by serving as a point of contact outside vendors and supporting Facilities Department in completing various routine parking lot maintenance projects. The incumbent provides support to the Enforcement Team during campus events by procuring and placing directional signs.

    Fiscal and Equipment Operations
    • Responsible for key parking operational activities and systems, including assessing, maintain, and monitoring the condition of all equipment in the field such as permit dispensers, electric vehicle charging stations, signs, gate arms and traffic control equipment.
    • Serve as the department's key point of conduct in completing campus equipment and parking spaces inventory processes.
    • Serve as the key point of contact for biking and bike support infrastructure such as bike racks, bike pumps and repair stations.
    • Primary point of contact for Parking & Transportation's sign program. Ensure signs are readable and in good state of repair. Remove unauthorized signs or postings that appear in campus lots.
    • Serve as the department's contact to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and coordinate with auto shop and vendors for all needs.

    Events and Customer Service Support
    • Under the work direction of the Events & Equipment the incumbent collaborates with the Community Service Specialists to coordinate Parking & Transportation support for campus events.
    • Advice Events and Equipment Analyst on the event signs and message boards that the department needs to procure for events.
    • Collaborating with CSS team determines where to place or move temporary signs and electronic message boards for events.
    • Serves as a back-up point of contact for with Campus community during events to ensure all their needs are met.
    • Assists IC's student assistants to responds to escalated customers queries using tact, diplomacy, and de-escalation communication strategies.
    • In the absence of the Events Analyst attending meetings where planning or scheduling of major events take place, explaining the range of services that Wayfinding and Event Parking can provide as well as service limitations

    Revenue Processing and Technology Support
    • Ensure non-cash permit dispensers are operating properly and have sufficient paper.
    • Lead the collection process from four cash permit dispensers' multiple times during the week following the department's collection procedures and CSUSB's cash handling policy. Have a thorough understanding of dual custody and other standard internal controls.
    • Perform maintenance and support of all dispensers, working with ITS, facilities, and vendors to independently troubleshoot issues.
    • Ensure software and hardware updates are done in a timely manner to ensure proper PCI compliance.

    Relationships
    • Under the direction of the Events & Equipment Specialist the incumbent works collaboratively with staff, in particular the enforcement team in the completion of duties.
    • Collaborate with facilities team in the completion of work orders, coordination of projects, and scheduling. Work collaboratively with all Parking & Transportation field staff in reporting and tracking needed work in campus parking lots. Examples include potholes, painting, roadway cracks, irrigation issues, and tree trimming.
    • Serve as a point of contact in the management of parking vendor relationships and expectations for deliverables

    Administration & Training
    • Infrequently, assist in general office or other administrative duties, which may include but are not limited to filing documents, preparing written correspondence, reports or other documents.
    • Attend various training that may be required or optional in order to satisfactorily complete the assigned duties and responsibilities of the position.

    Employment Status: This position is full-time, non-exempt, probationary with the ability to convert to permanent.

    Review Date: The initial review of applications will begin on October 29, 2021.

    Work Schedule

    Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with the possibility of converting to an alternative work schedule in the Summer.

    Key Qualifications
    • Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
    • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages.
    • Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
    • Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
    • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
    • Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
    • Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
    • Ability to handle effectively a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

    Education and Experience
    • The applicant must possess a minimum of a high school diploma and the equivalent to three years of experience in general office clerical work is required along with a thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience using, T2 FLEX CashNet, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
    • Prior experience working on a college campus handling multiple requests from the campus community.

    Salary:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,064 - $3,100

    Classification Salary Range: $3,064 - $5,148
