Primary Function:
The individual employed in this position will be responsible for the safe operation of university vehicles.
While this individual will primarily operate a motor coach, the individual will also be required to operate
passenger vans, cargo vans, sedans and various university trucks. The individual will be responsible for
safely transporting groups and individuals to both intrastate and interstate destinations. The individual will
also be required to be on duty as scheduled by the Director or designee.


Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual will be responsible for safely transporting groups and individuals to both intrastate and interstate destinations. While this individual will primarily operate a motor coach, the individual will also be required to operate passenger vans, cargo vans, sedans and various university trucks. Maintenance of assigned bus as well as general maintenance of the university automotive fleet.

The Director or designee will determine priorities for the individual in this position. Written and/or oral instructions will be provided for the performance of duties, in addition to working from previously established guidelines. The individual will also be required to be on duty as scheduled by the Director or designee.

Overtime may be required, and may be significant at times, in order to effectively perform the duties of the position.

The individual in this position is required to maintain the appropriate, valid drivers license at all times (Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement and no restrictions for air brakes).

All accidents/incidents, whether on duty or off duty, that may affect the ability to maintain this classification of drivers license must be reported to the Director or designee immediately. All accidents/incidents, while on duty, no matter how minor, must be reported to the Director or designee immediately.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
1. possession of a valid driver license as required by the State of Illinois for the type of motor vehicle(s) to be operated by the incumbent

2. three years of experience in the maintenance and operation of motor vehicles

SPECIALTY FACTOR

1. Must have a current DOT Medical Certification.


Education and Experience Preferred:
Experience driving motor coach buses, mini-buses and other vehicles for the transport of people. Must have excellent customer service skills.


Working Hours: Tuesday - Saturday; 8:00 am - 4:30pm
Hiring Rate/Range: $13.53/hr (rate will increase according to the collective bargaining agreement)

Employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation that includes a driving record check, drug/alcohol screening and a pre-employment medical history. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation and drug/alcohol and medical results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
