Job Description

The Multimedia Production Specialist II, under general supervision, designs and creates information technology based multimedia products that combine text with sounds, pictures, graphics, video-clips, virtual reality and digital animation.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:
  • Researches, designs, develops themes and content ideas, implements and manages multimedia content appropriate for electronic, website, email, social-media and print based publications through recording workshops, conducting interviews, editing, producing and publishing graphics, photos, videos and posts for various multimedia formats.
  • Provides full-scale graphic design and desktop-publishing services including converting ideas in to artwork, image-editing, developing design themes, designing, developing, revising and publishing for print and electronic materials such as magazines, reports, brochures, flyers, infographics, stationaries, templates, proposals, presentations, branding elements, etc.
  • Provides full-scale videography services, and produces, records, directs, edits audio-visuals and publishes promotional and news videos. Performs video post-production tasks including logging footage, creating rough cuts, and revised and final versions of video clips.
  • Records and produces photographic and video materials integrated across a variety of multimedia formats. Sets up and operates cameras, lighting equipment, microphones, and other equipment for field production and monitors and adjusts equipment during recording sessions. Designs and constructs lighting arrangements for studio and location video productions. May design and construct set pieces and props for studio productions. Maintains all media related equipment, facilities and supplies.
  • Prioritizes, organizes, and schedules work assignments and projects. Adheres to University rules and guidelines regarding use of electronic media. Maintains a digital library of photographs, video, graphic designs and program collateral. Researches and recommends new multimedia technologies to advance department strategy. Evaluates products and services for quality standards. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of related experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of planning and executing marketing plans with regards to multimedia preferred.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to conceptually understand instructional needs and translate them in multimedia designs.


Other Requirements:
Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Graphics Design
  • Knowledge of planning and executing marketing plans with regards to multimedia preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to conceptually understand instructional needs and translate them in multimedia designs.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of software to generate hardcopy, softcopy, and web products, publications, brochures, and web pages.
  • Proficiency to setup appropriate lighting and camera settings for creating exceptional pictures, and videos with good sound qualities.
  • Proficiency with graphic tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite 6, and Macromedia Fireworks for graphic creation.
  • Proficiency with print-based design principles, desktop publishing and typesetting software application such as Adobe InDesign.
  • Proficiency with video creation and editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Spark Video.
  • Proficiency with web applications such as WordPress, and knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, PHP server-side programming scripting.
  • Proficiency to incorporate audio, video, graphics and textual data to create interactive presentations.
