Shuttle Driver (Part-time)

UIW Mission


Position Summary
The Shuttle Driver operates gas and/or diesel buses on routes for University of the Incarnate Word. The Shuttle Driver observes all state and city speed and safety regulations as well as safety policies of the University. The Shuttle Bus Driver provides customer service to all riders. This position is part-time.

This position is considered a Responsible Employee under Title IX federal regulations and Mandatory Reporter under Texas state law and The UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.


Essential Functions


Job Duties
Driving
-At the start of the shift, obtain route assignment;
-Pick up and discharges student passengers following prescribed service routes and safety policy;
-Assists disabled individuals upon entering and exiting the bus;
-May be assigned to chartered bus trips

Pre/Post Inspection
-Performs pre/post-trip inspections;
-Walk around shuttle bus to observe any visual defects and check operating systems brakes, horn, windshield wipers, lights, first-aid kits, emergency flashers, door-opening devices, etc.;
-At end of shift/route, check for forgotten personal items and remove any large waste items

Safety Concerns and Accidents
-Immediately report emergency or imminent safety conditions to supervisor;
-Report all accidents to supervisor, immediately, and request police or ambulance service as needed

Other Duties
-Performs other duties as assigned



Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Possess strong customer service skills;
- Knowledge of all state and local traffic laws;
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and UIWs safety policies;
- Ability to drive for long periods of time.-
- Capability of maneuvering the shuttle bus safely and assist passengers;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

-Friendly customer service orientated personality


Preferred Qualifications


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
-Valid Texas CDL Class B license with P & S endorsements with the ability to be insured through UIWs vehicle insurance carrier;
-Must be at 21 years of age with an excellent driving record, as verified through the state Motor Vehicle Department.

Physical Demands
-Must have physical strength adequate to maneuver the bus and assist passengers;
-Ability to lift 50 lbs.to assist ADA passengers; -Must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.
