Description
The Division of Arts and Humanities at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is inviting applications for a full-time academic staff position in the Arabic Studies Program. Assistant/Associate/Instructors support NYU Abu Dhabi's educational mission by coordinating program activities and assisting faculty who teach Arabic language courses at Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. This is a non-teaching position.
As a member of the academic staff team, the Instructor in the Arabic Studies Program is tasked with hiring, training, and overseeing student assistants, coordinating discussion sections, review sessions, and cultural events, and taking part in program activities.
Assistant/Associate/Instructors in the NYUAD Arabic Studies Program play an integral role in the development of students' Arabic written and oral expression throughout their studies of Arabic in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and various Arabic dialects. As academic staff, they help the Arabic Studies Program with assessment and course placement and give individualized tutorials as course assistants for faculty. Furthermore, Assistant/Associate/Instructors are tasked with organizing, advertising, and holding Arabic language and cultural initiatives (such as special workshops, website development, and curricular or extracurricular events). Finally, Instructors create and manage Arabic program website content (in English and in Arabic) as well create and disseminate communications like newsletters, emails, brochures, course advertisements, and social media posts.

Qualifications
A successful applicant must have a Bachelor degree, (Masters degree is preferred), in a field related to languages, Arabic language, foreign language teaching, or general education. They also must demonstrate proven interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills in Arabic and English. Computer, digital and online advanced skills are highly desirable.
Preferred Work and Related Experience:
- Past work experience in a University or equivalent setting providing instructional support for college-level students.
- Administrative and professional experience working in an Arabic Language Program.
- Professional experience in event coordination.
- Experience in content creation and communications (e.g. crafting newsletters, website content, emails, brochures, course advertisements, and social media posts)
