St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) ranked faculty position on a 12-month tenure-track contract to serve as the Program Director for its upcoming Occupational Therapy Bridge Program. The position will begin in the summer of 2025.
The Occupational Therapy Bridge Program will provide a pathway for occupational therapy assistants to pursue their master's in occupational therapy. This program builds on St. Catherine University's long tradition of excellence in occupational therapy. Similar to our current occupational therapy assistant program, this program will be offered primarily online with limited in-person lab sessions. Initially, these sessions will be based in Texas. The initial cohort of students will begin in fall 2026.
This individual will play a pivotal role in finalizing the curriculum and shaping the student experience in the bridge program. They will be responsible for hiring faculty and collaborative with internal and external partners to provide an excellent education that trains high-quality occupational therapists.
The program is part of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health Sciences (HSSHS). With 18 degree programs and approximately 100 faculty, the HSSHS is the largest of St. Kate's four schools. Degrees are offered to students at all levels, from the associate to the doctoral level. A key distinguishing factor is the programs' shared focus on ecological approaches to health, intercultural competency, and interprofessional collaboration. Faculty and staff will find ample opportunities for support for teaching, professional practice, and scholarly activities. The Institute of Simulation and Interprofessional Learning (I-SAIL) provides resources and expertise to support developing and implementing high-impact educational activities within HSSHS and the School of Nursing. The St. Kate's Teaching Hub offers resources and a platform for teaching and scholarly activities that foster pedagogical innovation and student success. The Hub supports faculty and staff by providing professional development opportunities and a forum for learning and exchange on issues at the forefront of higher education. Additionally, St. Kate's has a growing academic technology team that offers training and support to faculty members who teach online.
Responsibilities include:
  • Serving as the Program Director for the Occupational Therapy Bridge Program.
  • Teaching graduate occupational therapy courses.
  • Program planning and evaluation (establish and renew program policies, maintain a program evaluation system, prepare annual reports for accreditation and the university, and oversee the creation and implementation of a strategic plan).
  • Curriculum oversight, including the development, maintenance, and evaluation of the curriculum design, fieldwork processes, capstone processes, and curriculum evaluation.
  • Develop, administer, and manage program budgets for personnel, equipment, supplies, consultants, travel, and accreditation.
  • Gather, maintain, and provide records of evidence to support accreditation reporting.
  • Support and encourage growth and high performance in teaching, research, and professional activities.
  • Evaluate faculty members for annual performance reviews and university evaluations, including promotion and tenure.
  • Coordinate the advising of students.
  • Respond to student issues, complaints, petitions, and appeals
  • Partnering with admissions to recruit and admit students
  • Developing a line of scholarship and disseminating research products in multiple formats
  • Engaging in service to the program, the school, the university, and external organizations



Salary Range:Assistant Professor: $98,000 - $105,000
Associate Professor: $112,000 - $118,000

Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree
  • 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy, including:
    • Clinical practice as an occupational therapist
    • Administrative experience (including program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting)
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a faculty member with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
    • Must be licensed as an OT with eligibility to pursue licensure in Minnesota and Texas and possess NBCOT certification





Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching in an online or hybrid learning environment.
  • Prior leadership experience as a Program Director or Academic Fieldwork Coordinator.
  • Strong record of scholarship, research, or grant writing in occupational therapy or related fields.
  • Experience mentoring faculty and students in research and professional development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and practice.
