The University of Colorado Boulder welcomes application for a Curricular & Experimental Learning Program Manager! This position within the Program in Exploratory Studies (PES) is responsible for the management and implementation of various Curricular and Experiential Learning initiatives in PES. This position provides leadership and oversight on the delivery of various PES courses including relevant strategic planning, communication, implementation and assessment; teaches First-Year Exploration (FYXP) classes for PES; assess relevant initiatives; and maintains regular engagement with relevant stakeholders within the Office of Undergraduate Education, PES, across campus and beyond CU. Additionally, the program manager provides oversight of the Design Your Path Living and Learning Community (LLC). The LLC serves first-year students who are interested in engaging in academic and career exploration in a residential setting. This position is responsible for collaborating with various PES staff to provide an environment that supports students in their academic, professional, and personal development. Finally, the position has a component of academic advising work through ad-hoc coverage. Advising in the Program in Exploratory studies works with students to empower and support them in exploration and decision-making toward their choice of a major and an outlay of goals for collegiate career at CU Boulder and beyond. Students with whom this position will specialize include: those who were not admitted to their college of choice and any population that finds themselves between colleges or in need of campus-wide exploration.

PES is designed to help students successfully transfer into their college of choice. We help students who are unsure of what they want to do, decide on a path and help them explore their options. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Curricular Program Management: 50%
- Partner with the Assistant Dean in Exploratory Studies & Undergraduate Education and relevant campus partners, including faculty members and staff in both Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, on the delivery of various PES courses including relevant strategic planning, communication, implementation and assessment.
- Teach a minimum of three academic courses per semester delivered to exploratory PES students from within the FYXP curriculum (current offerings are one-credit and include FYXP 1500: First Year Success Seminar, FYXP 1100: Academic Success Seminar, and FYXP 2200: Design-Thinking Seminar).
- Coordinate FYXP 2200, including solicitation and training of faculty, for the Design Your Path LLC.
- Coordinate other course offerings within the LLC, including designated exploratory sections of WRTG 1150.
- Work in conjunction with PES Leadership to develop and manage the delivery of additional FYXP courses as needed to serve the exploratory and developmental needs of PES students.
- Coordinate with campus academic success staff on support programming such as tutoring in key disciplines (e.g., writing, math, economics).
- Partner with PES staff to create, implement, and manage experiential learning opportunities, including oversight of the Design Your Path Living & Learning Community.
- Design Your Path Living & Learning Community (LLC):
- Work with PES Program Coordinator and campus partners in Housing & Dining (Residence Life, University Housing) to manage LLC administrative processes including LLC housing assignments and serve as point-of-contact for the LLC
- Collaborate with PES Program Managers and leadership team to create, implement, manage and assess curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities that support the whole student experience including coordination with Career Services to provide career-focused exploratory opportunities.
- This position will not carry a permanent advising caseload, but will provide ad hoc advising support throughout the academic year and during periods of increased student traffic, including potential temporary coverage during advisor vacancies and/or extended leaves. This position will be fully trained on the advising aspects of their role and is expected to stay current on advising-specific information. Advising work includes:
- Individual and small group work with students and related administrative duties; student traffic will vary over the course of the year
- Following all advising protocols and using campus advising tools such as Buff Portal Advising and maintaining a multidisciplinary knowledge base
- Assisting with students in planning for and making informed decisions about a choice of major, intended college outcomes, and potential career or graduate school direction
- Teaching students how to navigate the systems, academic processes and policies at CU-Boulder
- Working with students to personalize their academic path, including offering co curricular guidance that complements their goals and leading them in regular long term planning.
- Professional development, including but not limited to relevant conferences, mentoring opportunities, coursework, workshops, and research.
What You Should Know
- Primarily a 40-hour/week schedule following a typical 8am-5pm/9am-6pm pattern though some evening and weekend availability will be required to host and/or facilitate programming.
- Hybrid work schedule offered.

What We Require
- Completed Bachelor's Degree. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience with relevant experience including teaching experience; developing curriculum; managing parent concerns; experience with student success initiatives; experience applying student development theory; demonstrated interpersonal excellence with colleagues..
