AnnualPOSITION PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the Dean of the School of Education and Counseling Psychology, the Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services has the overall responsibility for development, coordination, and implementation of student services strategies to achieve student service goals across ECP. The Assistant Dean for Student Services will provide the vision and strategy for a high-quality student services program to ensure a high-quality experience from matriculation through graduation. The Assistant Dean will also oversee all accreditation processes for the School, including the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the Board of Behavioral Sciences, and will work closely with faculty and the Associate Dean to develop necessary data and reports for such bodies. The Assistant Dean will take a leadership role in managing the implementation of new academic programs, and will lead efforts to ensure quality data for US News and other ranking bodies. A member of the Senior Leadership team, the Assistant Dean will design comprehensive programs for student engagement, career development, and student progress management. The Assistant Dean will lead efforts to ensure enhanced global opportunities for students, to measure and support student progress to degrees, support new program development, serve as a key member of the Dean's office on student conduct or student grievance review committees, and serve as the central lead on efforts to ensure strong School rankings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Management and Liaison Responsibilities
- Lead the student records and student services team to ensure high quality service to students across academic programs.
- Provide work direction to student records and student services team to improve academic progress, enhance career services, enhance student life and global engagement, and to ensure efficient processes related to student registration.
- Service as a key member of the Dean's Senior Leadership team, providing data and guidance on student progress, student experience, student satisfaction, and student outcomes (basic and subject matter competency; TPA passing; licensure test passing rates).
- Lead all accreditation efforts, including managing all reporting to the CTC and BBS and ensuring necessary data are available and presented in a way that supports effective accreditation visits.
- Lead efforts to ensure accurate data is available and reported regarding ECP for School rankings surveys. Understand ranking criteria and opportunities to improve rankings.
- Serve as a key advisor to the dean on potential improvements to student life and areas of concern.
- Serve as key liaison with appropriate units across campus, including: Dean of Students, Housing, Financial Aid (re: student progress related issues), Regisrar, Office of Global Engagement, Mission and Ministry, CAPs, Inclusive Excellence, Office of Accessible Education, Title IX, Career Services and any other units related to student experiences.
- Will serve as the key manager and owner of the Graduate Bulletin and will collaborate with General Counsel, Dean of Students, Office of Accessible Education, and Title IX office for annual updates.
- Serve as a key point person regarding issues of student conduct or student concerns that reach the dean's office.
2. Lead Student Services Team
- Develop a comprehensive plan for student services that reflects our Jesuit values and our study body needs and is aligned with other graduate programs at SCU and ensures students receive strong support for program completion.
- Lead student services team to ensure timely and accurate data on student enrollment, leaves of absence, time to degree, and other trends. Provide Senior Leadership team with data and regular reports that can guide advising, employer relations, and financial planning.
- Lead staff development in the implementation of a new student services model that provides strong staff support for students in collaboration with faculty advising. Lead culture change and staff development to support the new model of student services.
- Lead team and collaborate with Department Chairs and Program Leads to manage effective welcome and orientation events for new students.
3. Manage all systems and metrics on student enrollment.
- Guide student services team to ensure timely management of enrollment processes, degree audits, degree conferrals, and credential recommendations to the State of California.
- Manage team to ensure draft AYP for following fiscal year is available in the Fall quarter for faculty to adapt as needed in developing the AYP. Ensure accurate data to promote a smooth registration process: Identify "bottlenecks" and "low enrollment" courses for review in Dean's office.
- Develop systems and metrics to monitor student progress and student satisfaction. Lead the annual Student Survey and collaborate with Department Chairs on Exit Surveys and other surveys required by accreditors. Provide regular reports to Senior Leadership on student satisfaction and concerns and use data to drive programming.
- Lead team in identifying and removing barriers to student progress and provide guidance to Senior Leadership Team on student time to degree, student progress, student leaves, and other concerns related to time to degree completion.
- Lead team to manage all systems to ensure accurate tracking of all credentialing and licensure requirements including fingerprinting, testing, basic and subject matter competency requirements and licensing requirements. Produce timely documents and tracking for Department Chairs and Program Directors, and collaborate with Senior Leadership team to develop and implement communication protocols to students regarding requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all student record keeping.
4. Develop full complement of career workshops and professional development opportunities for ECP students
- Utilize student and alumni survey results to develop a regular series of career workshops and professional development opportunities. Collaborate with the Career Center on existing workshops and grow and enhance new workshops to meet student interests and student demand (e.g., building a practice; forming networks of educators, etc.).
- Collaborate with the Director of Employer and Alumni Engagement to develop opportunities for student-alumni networking and professional learning opportunities
5. Lead the School's strategic initiative to increase the availability of global opportunities for ECP students.
- Serve as the key liaison with the Office of Global Engagement and keep abreast of policy changes in this area.
- Provide guidance on central requirements for faculty seeking to propose new global course initiatives. Coordinate programs with relevant offices - e.g. Financial Aid, Office of Global Engagement, etc. to ensure timely communication about programs that could impact students.
- Ensure international students are well served, and monitor changes in regulations and policy in regard to international students and keep students informed of changes.
- Serve as key liaison in our engagement with other universities to develop and establish student exchange opportunities.
6. Serve as key lead in the development and management of School's rankings strategy.
- Understand US News and other rankings systems and criteria for Schools of Education.
- Monitor data utilized in school rankings and present opportunities and challenges to Senior Leadership Team. Collaborate with SCU Online, faculty, and others in the Dean's office to ensure data provided are accurate, timely, and effective.
- Develop and manage communications strategy related to peer rankings, and direct Assistant / Director of Marketing and Communications annual social media and communications efforts in this area.
- Report to Senior Leadership Team on rankings information and monitor progress and goal setting in this area.
7. Lead school's accreditation reporting and relations with external accreditors.
- Take leadership of annual reporting to BBS on accredited programs. Consult with Department Chair and Student Services team as needed to ensure accurate information and ensure we are prepared for all reports.
- Provide oversight and leadership of accreditation processes, including CTC visits. Manage Student Services team to ensure timely and accurate data reporting as needed, and collaborate with relevant Department or Program Chair to ensure program review website is developed and updated according to the needed schedule.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
- Develops strategic plan to enhance students' academic and co-curricular experiences and to enhance student academic and career outcomes. Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services, including career and professional development and engagement and networking opportunities with alumni to foster lifelong connection to ECP.
- Develop strategic initiatives related to student global opportunities for students and facilitate development of new opportunities with the Senior Leadership Team and faculty.
- Ensures team has the appropriate tools, skills and professional development to excel in their work. Ensures steady engagement of professional learning opportunities for the team.
- Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
- Maintains contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services.
- Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
- Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
- Ensures regular data collection on student satisfaction and prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goats. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions. Regularly provides reports on student progress and time to degree.
- Develops and implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge
- Demonstrated understanding of the Jesuit mission, especially values of cura personalis and magis, and their implications for student services and admissions.
- Strong understanding of graduate student needs and interests and demonstrated capacity to build out a full complement of student services and student life initiatives from orientation through graduation.
- Experience leading student services teams to effect positive student life outcomes for graduate students.
- Experience leading career and professional development opportunities for students, managing student progress and student enrollment and registration processes, global engagement, and rankings management are a plus.
- Demonstrated familiarity with computer platforms and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with People Soft or Workday and Slate are a plus

Education and Experience
- Master's degree required
Years of Experience
- 8-10 years experience in student services in higher education, preferably in graduate education, required.
