Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics (Tenure Track)

Effective date: January 1, 2025 or until filled.

Qualification:

Earned Doctorate or ABD (all but dissertation) in Agricultural Economics or related agricultural or business field required, with a strong background and interest in agribusiness management, entrepreneurship, communication, marketing, policy and agricultural business. Areas of interest to include but are not limited to agribusiness management, policy, industrial/organizational psychology, farm management, risk management and agricultural marketing. A strong interest and skills in undergraduate teaching and advising are essential. The applicant should have demonstrated abilities to communicate effectively and to work well with others.

Responsibilities:

The position will be an academic year appointment (100 percent teaching) with duties administered by the Department of Agriculture, Geosciences and Natural Resources. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to Entrepreneurship, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Policy, International Trade, Finance, Quantitative Methods, Agribusiness Management, Natural Resource Economics, Scientific Writing. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in training the SAEA and AAEA Quiz Bowl Competition Teams.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department:

The Department of Agriculture, Geosciences and Natural Resources at UT Martin offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree programs in Agriculture, Geosciences, and Natural Resources Management. Degree programs include Agricultural Business with concentrations in Agribusiness; Farm and Ranch Management; Agribusiness Communications; Agricultural and Environmental Law and Policy. Other degree programs include Agriculture with concentrations in Agricultural Education, Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Plant and Soil Science and Agricultural Engineering Technology. Veterinary Sciences and Technology with concentrations in Veterinary Science and Veterinary Technology. Concentrations in Geosciences are Geology, Geography, and Meteorology. Concentrations in Natural Resources Management include Wildlife Biology, Park and Recreation Administration, Environmental Management and Soil and Water Conservation. Graduate programs include Agribusiness and Risk Management, Systems Sciences in Agriculture, and Natural Resources Management. Current enrollment is about 1100 students with 35 full time faculty and staff members. The Department operates a 650-acre teaching farm complex to support applied faculty research and student experiential learning opportunities.

The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville.
