Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for the development, cultivation and solicitation efforts for donors with the capacity for making philanthropic gifts at the major gift level ($25K+) as well as at the annual fund level. Develops strategies to solicit major and planned gifts for the University of Hartford. Works closely with Deans, Center Program Directors, Board members, faculty and Advancement staff to conceive and execute comprehensive development and constituent relations programs in support of identified University funding priorities. Works closely with the Director of Annual Giving and the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement to enhance their programs and grow participation and engagement among our alumni. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range
Starting salary is budgeted between $58,024 and $70,000, based upon experience
Key Responsibilities
- Uses an industry standard process and vendor platform to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a prospect and donor portfolio of 100-150+ alumni, parents and friends. Participates as an integral member of the moves management process in the development and implementation of fundraising lifecycle strategies for assigned, prioritized prospects. Determines donor interest and philanthropic capability among restricted and unrestricted University purposes. Personally solicits prospects and donors for both annual and major gifts. Completes and submits contact reports in a timely manner. Also works to support the work of the Director of Annual Giving and the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement in growing their programs.
- Supports Alumni Engagement Staff, Deans, Program Directors and relevant faculty in gifts related development and alumni activities. Supports the various affiliated Boards of Advisors, including identifying and recruiting appropriate new members, managing and soliciting current members, and developing an engagement plan for former members. Plans and executes a robust calendar of activities where the Alumni Engagement Staff, Deans, Center Program Directors and/or select faculty meet with alumni, parents and friends on- and off-site and where key prospects are systematically brought back to campus to serve as advisors, guest speakers, and/or committee/Board members.
- Coordinates with Prospect Research and Management as well as supervisor to plan and execute extensive travel locally (more for territories closest to and including Connecticut) however travel will include some multi-day trips for individual prospect/donor visits in various geographic locations throughout the United States and to participate in University events as appropriate and necessary.
- Incorporates planned giving alternatives as necessary and appropriate. Coordinates planned giving requests in collaboration with the Director of Planned Giving.
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Donor Stewardship for the stewardship of major gift donors. Stewards the identification, recruitment and involvement of volunteers in the development process.
- Collaborates in the development of publications and advocacy materials that support key funding priorities and advance the public image of the University of Hartford ensuring alignment with University branding initiatives, departmental goals and University values.
- Attends selected events for the purposes of major gift donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
