The Office of International Affairs (OIA) develops and advances initiatives that support the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campuses vision as a leading public university with a global reputation for excellence in learning, research, creativity, community engagement, and clinical care. OIA partners with the university's schools/colleges and with other university offices to align international student recruitment efforts and services, support academic programs, foster global educational partnerships, facilitate research collaborations and create global learning opportunities.
International Admissions (IA) is the primary unit focused on international student recruitment at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels for CU Denver | Anschutz. IA is also the full-serving admissions office for undergraduate applicants and provides application support for graduate applicants at CU Denver | Anschutz.
The International Recruitment & Marketing Lead plays a vital role within the International Admissions (IA) team, supporting the recruitment, marketing, and enrollment of international undergraduate, graduate, and ESL Academy students at CU Denver. Reporting to the Director of International Enrollment Strategy & Admissions, this position leads the planning and execution of in-person and virtual recruitment initiatives, manages key relationships with international recruitment agents, and contributes to the development of targeted marketing strategies. The role requires a data-informed approach to evaluating recruitment activities and agent performance, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, and delivering an excellent prospective student experience.
In addition to recruitment responsibilities, the International Recruitment & Marketing Lead oversees International Admissions' digital and print marketing campaigns, social media presence, and lead communications strategy. This role also supports strategic decision-making through ROI analysis, trend research, and process improvement initiatives. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to influence international enrollment outcomes through integrated marketing, outreach, and relationship management, while contributing to CU Denver's broader global engagement goals.
International Recruitment & Marketing Lead
International Student Recruitment (40%):
- Performs all duties with the goal of increasing international student enrollment for students who can successfully graduate.
- Actively recruits international students to attend CU Denver via international and domestic travel, as well as remote recruitment events, in accordance with annual recruitment goals and strategy.
- Plans and executes annual in-person recruitment activities in accordance with agreed recruitment market strategies and allocated recruitment budget.
- Collaborates with the International Outreach & Enrollment Coordinator on virtual recruitment fairs and activities
- Vets recruitment events & vendors, scheduling, preparing materials, budgeting, staffing coverage, tracking, and reporting.
- Cogently and successfully promotes CU Denver in a variety of settings and to various markets.
- Utilizes Slate queries and reports to effectively carry out recruitment initiatives.
- Regularly assesses efficacy of all recruitment activities through reporting and analysis of applications received, number of students admitted, number of students who enroll from each recruitment activity.
- For reporting, ensures tracking mechanisms are in place in Slate for each activity. Contributes this recruitment data for the return on investment (ROI) assessment of recruitment activities each semester. Also utilize this information to inform the IA recruitment plan for the next recruitment cycle
- Processes leads from virtual and in-person events; creates and delivers event follow-up mailings.
- Provides support and guidance to academic units regarding effective international recruitment strategies in conjunction with, or in addition to current outreach methods.
- Seeks, evaluates, and recommends opportunities for recruitment via relevant and effective modalities in each global market.
- Continually assesses the effectiveness of recruitment modalities and markets by gathering and analyzing relevant data; working with the Director of International Enrollment Management to present information related to return on investment (ROI) statistics.
- Collaborates with various partners to attract prospective international students through targeted campaigns, IA recruitment scholarship promotions, website updates, drip marketing communications, and compelling content for virtual and in-person recruitment events.
- Works with the Director of International Enrollment Strategy and Admissions and the OIA Director of Marketing & Communication with the development and design of print and digital materials for recruitment purposes.
Agent Management (35%):
- Manages CU Denver's relationships with international recruitment agents: includes vetting and onboarding of new agents, targeted communications, in-person and online trainings, application inquiries, reporting, invoicing, and contracts.
- Collaborates with OIA HR and Finance to prepare and execute timely and accurate payment of agent commissions for successfully enrolled students; and ensures that invoice payments are effectively tracked
- Monitors and evaluates agent performance by target market. Regularly reports on individual agent performance by semester, by market, and by academic level.
- Prepares weekly agent reports for agents. Establishes metrics for agent performance.
- Continuously evaluates the process of identifying new agents in markets for growth. Provides regular reporting to the Director on agent growth opportunities in target markets.
- Provides twice-annual reporting to IA and OIA Leadership to show the impact of agents in international enrollment.
- Provides recommendations to the Director and OIA Leadership on agents who would benefit from senior leadership engagement.
- Annually evaluates agent performance and recommends appropriate action regarding agent contracts.
- Updates agent information and processes on a regular basis.
- Responds in a timely matter to agent concerns regarding student applications, contracts, and commissions.
Additional Responsibilities (25%):
- Primary procurement card holder for International Admissions; completing monthly expense reports.
- Manages and maintains SOPs related to recruitment processes and practices related to agents, recruitment travel and data processing.
- Proactively researches trends in the field of higher-education and digital marketing,knowledge sharing to the unit, suggests improvements to overall IA content and communication strategy.
- Processes student applications as necessary, according to established CU Denver procedures and recognized best practices.
- Liaises with others within and outside OIA, especially other admissions offices and International Marketing and Communications to address admissions-related needs and requests.
- Communicates in a clear, professional, and timely manner with a variety of audiences to provide excellent customer service.
- Maintains complete, accurate and accessible records and process maps to ensure that information is available, correct, and communicable as needed.
- Works with the Director of International Enrollment Strategy and Admissions to manage a recruitment budget and completes all necessary fiscal reporting and reconciliation requirements in a thorough and timely manner.
- Assists with the utilization of qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate recruitment initiatives and guide decision making.
- Takes proactive action and positive posture with the Director of International Enrollment Management to implement international recruitment strategies in coordination with relevant University stakeholders.
- Proactively conducts environmental scanning, particularly of the institution, world and market trends, and the field of international admissions with knowledge sharing to the unit.
- Hires, trains, and supervises a student assistant dedicated to supporting international marketing and student recruitment activities.
- Contributes to CU Denver and Strategic Enrollment and Student Success priorities by serving on standing or ad hoc committees, task forces, etc. as appropriate.
- The position will be required at times to participate in professional activities on weekends and evenings outside of the established workday. This includes up to 25% time out of the office for domestic and international travel.
- Envisions and executes additional duties and projects with or without specific assignments.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in international education, international business, marketing, communication, international affairs, international relations, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience working in an academic or student-focused office environment.
- 1 year of experience with marketing & communications.
- Personal or professional experience traveling internationally.
- Experience giving presentations both in-person and online.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master's degree
- 4 years of international admissions/recruitment experience.
- CRM use, agent management, and digital marketing experience.
- Experience managing marketing projects involving internal stakeholders or external partners.
- Experience collaborating on the development of marketing collateral or campaigns.
- Proficiency in a foreign language (e.g.Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, or Vietnamese)

Conditions of Employment
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including the ability to obtain relevant international travel documents.
- Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
- This position follows a hybrid work structure. Employees are expected to work from an on-campus location three days a week and may work remotely up to two days a week. In-person coverage will be coordinated with International Admissions colleagues.

- The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work;often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.

- Position operates under potentially hazardous or adverse conditions such as outdoors in extreme heat/cold/weather, requiring a higher degree of operator care.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $60,950 - $62,900.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
