About the Department:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) serves the SMU community with technology solutions that promote research and teaching, inspire innovation, and enable excellence. This role will aid OIT's Customer Service Department.
About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Training & Communications Program Coordinator functions as both university operator and coordinator of IT's Certification Program. This role contributes to the following University goals:
I. Enhance Academic Quality and Stature of the University
a. This role serves faculty, staff, students, parents, and external constituents by providing critical information for those learning SMU's culture. This position serves as essential personnel to relay key information during University emergencies.
II. To improve teaching and learning
a. supports OIT's training outreach of digital literacy
b. supports faculty needs for providing grades
III. Sustain student development and a supportive campus experience.
a. Assists with student requests for accommodations and coordinating requests for test scheduling.
Essential Functions:

Assists with hiring student workers and managing access in RegisterBlast, GMextrix, and PowerBI. Coordinates training, meetings, scheduling, proctoring, and testing each semester. Supports faculty with grading and reports; supports students with accommodations, appointments, and fees. Manages daily grading tasks and reporting. Verifies FERPA status for promotions and helps write user stories.

Answers constituent calls requesting information and/or transfers. Includes inquiries about campus facilities, employment, donations, housing, events, mail, enrollment, meal plans, etc. Escalates priority calls to support parents, students, alumni, and the campus community. Acts as essential personnel. Stays abreast on personnel changes and Assists with keeping the call center directory current.

Provides general administrative support for team including website review, end-user testing, video caption checks, room reservations, event staffing, blog writing, ordering supplies, and project assistance. Responsible for managing customer service supply orders.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidate with associate's degree is preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience is required. Candidate with call center or receptionist experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate should have the ability to handle difficult customers as needed. Administrative and scheduling experience is required. Microsoft Office certification (PowerPoint, Word, or Excel) is desired. Candidate must have customer service experience.
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
