The Director, One Year MBA Program is a leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the One Year MBA Program (OYMBA), a signature graduate cohort program at the University of Colorado Denver Business School. This D2, self-funded program places a premium on providing stellar support to students, faculty, alumni, and other key stakeholders associated with the program. The Director leads the program and manages a team to effectively deliver the highest quality MBA program while ensuring student satisfaction. The Director is responsible for substantially contributing to the program's advancement and development, ensuring it meets both market and student needs.

The OYMBA program is a key revenue-generating department for the Business School and the university, therefore, the Director will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs and university administrators to manage the integration of policies and procedures, optimization of resources and maximizing efficiencies.


Director, One Year MBA Program

What you will do:

Strategic Implementation
  • Lead the strategic planning, development, programmatic growth, budgeting, and curriculum management of the One Year MBA Program.
  • Oversee and supervise all administrative, programmatic, technological, fiscal, and logistical aspects of the program while ensuring growth and strategic development.
  • Analyze competitive and internal data to develop strategies to meet and exceed student needs.

Fiscal Management
  • Responsible for creating and managing a budget of approximately $2M for the OYMBA program.
  • Manages financial forecasting tools on behalf of the program to assist in determining target enrollment goals of OYMBA program.
  • Review financial details monthly to track budget to actuals and review financial statements for accuracy.
  • Leads OYMBA scholarship planning to ensure strategic allocation of scholarships to help attract and retain students.
  • Oversight of procurement matters for the program including but not limited to contract review, purchasing, reimbursements, etc.

Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions
  • Partner with Marketing Director and marketing team to strategize marketing needs for the program.
  • Responsible for marketing content for the program including prospective student websites, drip campaigns, admitted student website, digital ads and other media content such as collaborating with the Marketing team on OYMBA featured student stories and videos.
  • Strategize with Marketing team on digital marketing budget needed to help meet target enrollment goals and provide input on possible digital spend adjustments throughout the year.
  • Partner with Director of Enrollment Management and Assistant Director of OYMBA, to oversee recruitment strategy for the OYMBA program, and recruit qualified prospects.
  • Lead weekly pipeline meetings to ensure all RFI's and other leads are being nurtured and ensure concerted effort to meet target enrollment goals.
  • Review applicants for admission and support Assistant Director in conducting admission interviews to determine candidacy and fit for the OYMBA program; be knowledgeable on other MBA programs in the Business School to help determine student best MBA program fit.
  • Develop and oversee yield activities for the program, and closely monitor enrollment targets in comparison to YOY trends.
  • Represent the OYMBA program as needed at info sessions, graduate program open houses, MBA meet and greets or other Business School or campus events.

Curriculum Management and Faculty Relations
  • Responsible for strategically developing annual OYMBA course schedule.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs and Discipline Directors, to staff the OYMBA program with top notch Business School faculty, while adhering to Business School policies related to teaching loads.
  • With Director of Assurance of Learning, ensure faculty qualifications meet AACSB requirements as needed for the program
  • Address Faculty Course Questionnaires as needed with faculty/Discipline Directors.
  • Work with HR to post, hire and onboard new OYMBA lecturers to fill any gaps in the OYMBA schedule.
  • Partner with Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs and MBA program committee, to implement curriculum enhancements.
  • Develop strong relationships with OYMBA faculty, and support new faculty teaching in the program to set them up for success.
  • Support experiential learning courses in the program through networking and actively providing leads to those faculty as needed.
  • Lead and develop content for annual OYMBA faculty retreat.
  • Host bi-annual Fall and Spring OYMBA faculty meetings to best prepare faculty.
  • Oversees faculty contracts on behalf of the program.

Student Services
  • Oversee all aspects of student services, including program Canvas account, oversight of the day-to-day operations, retention strategies, and experiential learning aspects of the OYMBA program.
  • Parter with key campus stakeholders: Financial Aid, Bursar's, Veteran Student Services Office, International Student & Scholar Service Office, to ensure OYMBA program remains compliant with respective campus policies and manage escalated student situations as needed.
  • Evaluate annual effectiveness of third-party career coaching provided in OYMBA program, and strategize best practices for career and professional development for OYMBA program.
  • Manage escalated student concerns and handle student conduct violations on behalf of the program as needed.
  • Oversees and manages feedback for program enhancement and development.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of OYMBA events such as Orientation, Graduation and supplemental workshops.
  • Present at OYMBA Orientation and serve as emcee at annual OYMBA graduation.
  • Responsible for conducting degree audits and conferring degrees.

International Course Abroad
  • Provide leadership and oversight in the development of the annual OYMBA course abroad, support Assistant Director with logistics of the annual course abroad as needed.
  • Work closely with OYMBA Assistant Director to oversee risk management in coordination with study abroad provider, university risk management and the Office of Global Education.
  • In partnership with OYMBA Assistant Director and OYMBA faculty lead for the course abroad, monitor U.S. State Department risk levels, International SOS alerts and ensure emergency action plan is developed and meets university requirements.
  • Strategizes international course abroad planning with faculty lead and OYMBA Assistant Director and as needed, develops relationships with third party providers that specialize in delivering "MBA courses abroad" based on region pursuing for course abroad.
  • As needed, travels abroad as OYMBA staff lead with cohort, manages in-country provider liaison and manages 24/7 emergency phone for students and oversees any risk management matters while in country.

Alumni Relations
  • Leads the alumni strategy and implementation of OYMBA alumni efforts on behalf of the OYMBA program .
  • Develops and manages fundraising efforts for OYMBA program; this involves collaborating with the advancement team.
  • Researches and maintains best practices for alumni relations for unique cohort programs.
  • Creates and implements mentorship program; pairing alums with current students where appropriate.
  • Maintains strong relationships with current students to bridge alumni relations post-graduation.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Six (6) years of progressive experience in higher education operations management, business administration, student services, or a directly related field.

Preferred Qualifications to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Master's degree in a business or related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in higher education.
  • Experience with managing a cohort based program.
  • Experience with program development, student advising, and managing international trips abroad knowledge of the CU systems.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Slate, CRM's, and CUSIS.
  • Experience with leadership and program administration.
  • Experience working with globally diverse individuals and organizations

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $127,900 - $130,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
