Position Description
This position is designated to support the Workday planning and implementation team by assisting with operational responsibilities, allowing project team members to focus on project-related activities. Please note that this position is tied to the duration of the Workday Project. Continued employment is contingent upon the ongoing needs of the project, which is currently anticipated to conclude on or around June 30, 2027.
Reporting to the University Registrar, the Senior Student Systems Administrator manages Ellucian's Colleague student information system settings and processes related to registration, grading and advising, which includes creating and maintaining queries and reports to be utilized for self-auditing and some campus partner training. The Senior Student Systems Administrator provides data governance oversight to the student module as the Registrar's proxy. This role additionally supervises the staff and functions of academic course scheduling and records management and reporting.
Operational Execution in Registration, Grading and Curricular change (50%)
Provides operational excellence in carrying out business processing to provide academic advisor role set up, registration appointment generation, registration monitoring, ad-hoc query development and internal audit reporting, grading, A-133 audit support, annual catalog change course set up and production calendar maintenance and processing. Engages in systems and tools enhancement testing and implementation. Stays current with technology changes and innovations in practice related to these areas and applies them appropriately to meet university objectives.
Data Governance of Student Module (15%)
Provides student (ST) module oversight to rights management, and permissions to Colleague and mySeattleU (Colleague Self-Service) access as the proxy for the University Registrar. Reviews and approves data sharing and data integrations related to student data. Proposes changes to systems, procedures and policies needed to meet institutional needs for accurate and useful student data, and reviews implementation of such changes. With the University Registrar, is a member of the Data Governance Committee.
Peer Guidance and Support (10%)
Augments each division's specific onboarding and training in support of advising, administrative assistant, and department chair/program coordinator community to better understand and carry out functions related to tool and data use for registration, advisor access and grading functions. Engages as the academic liaison to the information technology technical and report teams in collaboratively assessing ongoing academic reporting needs and refresh timing for reporting and query uses involving student data.
Assists in monitoring compliance with federal and institutional regulations and policies, including FERPA. Serves on various division-level and campus-wide taskforces or committees. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science and four years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Demonstrable experience with Ellucian's Colleague system administration.
- Deep understanding of the data model in a student information system.
- Demonstrable experience with PowerBI, SQL query and deep Excel data analysis skills.
- All positions at Seattle University require a criminal history background check.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $85,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. Hybrid Eligible
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
