The Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures and the Penn Language Center at the University of Pennsylvania announce a position at the rank of part-time Lecturer in Persian Language for the Spring 2026 semester. Applicants for the position should demonstrate a primary focus on language education and should have received at least a Master's degree in Persian Language, Literature, Linguistics, or Teaching Second Language Acquisition. Native or near-native competency in Farsi language and fluency in English, are required. Preference will be given to applicants who have significant teaching experience at all levels of Persian language at post-secondary North American institutions. Demonstrated proficiency in current second/foreign language teaching methodologies, especially content-based instruction, proficiency-based learning, and the flipped classroom with a high focus on language activation and feedback, and meaningful application of technologies in language instruction are highly desirable. Duties include teaching Elementary Persian II (second semester), Intermediate Persian II (second semester), and Advanced Persian II (second semester) language classes; also holding regular office hours 1 - 2 hours per week. Applicants should have valid authorization to work in the US prior to the position start date of January 1, 2026. A continuing position may be possible based on curricular needs, performance and funding.
