Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is searching for a one-year non-tenure track faculty member to help with The National Security Studies Program. They will teach undergraduate subjects such as intelligence, diplomacy and foreign affairs, law and policy, military and law enforcement, international economics, and advanced technology and security.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the department chair and the dean of the College of Health and Public Service, this full-time, non-tenure track faculty member will be assigned a teaching workload that may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online sections and will include National Security courses but may also include courses in Intelligence. This position is a one-year contract only.

Summary of Responsibilities

1. Designs, plans, and teaches National Security courses, with the possibility of other courses as
determined by the department. Instructs and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms
through online content delivery, lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations,
individualized instructions, and other appropriate methods. (50%)
2. Prepares instructional materials including writing assignments, examinations, outlines, syllabi,
visual aids, and presentations as necessary. (20%)
3. Participates in Program Learning Outcomes and assessment. Evaluates student learning,
maintains accurate records of student accountability, attendance, and performance. (20%)
4. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. (10%)

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Graduation from an accredited institution (USDE recognized accreditor) with a terminal degree in an
    appropriate and related discipline. Minimum of a master's degree.
  • At least five years of teaching experience, with at least a year of higher education teaching or equivalent
    Industry Experience in the National Security Field.
