POSITION SUMMARY
The Dean of Allied Health provides academic and administrative oversight and strategic leadership for Public Service, Behavioral Health, and Health Sciences. The position leads the different departments and programs collaboratively to provide holistic learning opportunities and equitable educational and career outcomes for students. The Dean balances the needs of academic departments and their leadership with the larger goals of the College strategic plan, paying particular attention to increasing student retention, completion, transfer, and employment.
The Dean demonstrates a leadership and management style that creates an atmosphere of support, motivation, collaboration, accountability, and excellence among departments and direct reports through utilization of strong interpersonal and communication skills. The Dean maintains consistency in the application of the College's mission and strategic plan at the program level by collaborating with department chairs and faculty as well as creating efficient systems with input from those involved, both within the college and among our industry partners.
OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. CCA enrolls 11,000 students annually, over 62% of whom are students of color, including nearly 32% Hispanic students, 65% of CCA students receive some type of financial aid, including 52% of whom receive Pell grants, and nearly two-thirds are first-generation college students.
More than 20 different languages and 60 countries are represented at CCA. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Program Management
- Creates and leads program innovation aligned with institutional vision and priorities.
- Ensures compliance in programs with accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
- Provides strategic leadership for data-driven growth and expansion of allied health programs.
- Evaluates program viability, approving new programs and sunsetting outdated ones.
- Conducts needs assessments, labor market analyses, and gap analyses to ensure program effectiveness.
- Oversees operational procedures, division guidelines, quality assurance, and course planning.
- Measures and analyzes operational impact to drive continuous improvement.
- Advises Associate Vice President on program impacts.
- Collaborates with all levels of college leadership to implement strategic priorities.
- Consults and collaborates with department chairs on program quality matters.
- Serves on campus-wide committees for strategic planning and budget development.
- Implements strategic priorities focused on teaching excellence.
- Oversees and participates in improving instructional processes for allied health faculty and instructors.
- Provides guidance on professional development for faculty, instructors, and staff.
- Supervises administrative, faculty, classified, technical/support, and student staff.
- Conducts effective evaluations and supports staff in meeting professional goals.
- Stays current with research and best practices in relevant instructional areas.
- Responds to student concerns and inquiries regarding program quality and integrity.
- Ensures programs meet transferability and workforce requirements.
- Participates in strategic enrollment management initiatives.
- Serves on committees related to student learning outcomes and program review.
- Develops, oversees, analyzes, and aligns budget decisions with College strategy.
- Forecasts funding needs for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies
- Prepares and manages grants according to guidelines.
- Submits financial reports for division-related funds in a timely manner.
- Assumes institutional authority for applicable grants, contracts, and technology.
- Develops relationships with four-year colleges, universities, K-12 institutions, and industry partners.
- Collaborates with regional occupational education institutions.
- Builds partnerships with community-based organizations.
- Assists in promoting college image and allied health programs.
- Partners with pathways leadership on strategic enrollment management.
- Drives advancement of the college's goals for inclusion and representation.
- Assists in hiring staff that reflects the college and Aurora community.
- Participates in activities that enhance recruiting, hiring, and retention practices.
- Exercises leadership to achieve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implements initiatives to improve work processes and enhance system performance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in a discipline relevant to the work of the assignment.
- Three (3) years progressive administrative, managerial, or supervisory experience in K-12 or higher education and/or a clinical setting with an administrative background.
- Demonstrated commitment to increasing access for traditionally underrepresented populations.
- Evidence of ability to develop successful partnerships.
- Skilled in building collaboration and sustaining productive and respectful working relationships both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated experience with curriculum and program development.
- Demonstrated experience with assessment of student learning at the program level.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a variety of partners and a willingness to engage in professional development activities to improve understanding and effectiveness of leadership and impact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university in a discipline related to the assignment.
- College level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic and operational planning, budget and resource management including meeting program accreditation standards and faculty credentialing.
- Familiarity with Higher Learning Commission accreditation standards.
- Experience working with a variety of student populations and/or in programs aimed at encouraging access, retention, and completion of varying student populations.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range is $105,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
