Senior Associate Director of Recruitment

Job Summary

The Office of Admissions is a seeking a personable, energetic, and poised Senior Associate Director of Recruitment. Under the guidance of the Deputy Director of Admissions, this person will play a vital role within the team, providing strategic leadership and oversight of all domestic undergraduate recruitment initiatives to support the institutional enrollment goals. This role directs a comprehensive outreach strategy across local, regional, and national markets, manages a team of admissions professionals, and ensures the execution of data-informed recruitment plans. The Senior Associate Director collaborates with campus partners, supervises territory management, oversees travel planning and event execution, and monitors key performance indicators to enhance prospective student engagement and yield outcomes. This position serves as a key advisor to the Deputy Director of Admissions and plays a critical role in shaping recruitment policy, team development, and operational efficiency.



Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead strategic recruitment plans to support undergraduate enrollment goals across in-state and out-of-state.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of campus-based and regional assistant directors, admissions counselors, and campus experience team members, ensuring consistent performance, professional growth, and accountability.
  • Oversee the territory management model, including data analysis, travel planning, and resource allocation based on market performance and institutional priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal recruitment units-including international recruitment and outreach and access teams-to ensure a cohesive and unified recruitment strategy across all prospective student populations.
  • Collaborate with campus partners-such as the Enrollment Management Marketing & Communications, University Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Housing and Residential Education, Office of Orientation and Transition, and Academic Colleges-to ensure alignment and integration of recruitment messaging and efforts.
  • Supervise Campus Experience team, providing support for University Ambassadors, Admissions Call Center Assistants, and Welcome Center front desk student staff.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of recruitment events, including fall programs, spring admitted student events, counselor fly-ins, both on-campus and regionally.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to applications, admits, yield, and market entrance/exit; using data to refine recruitment strategies.
  • Manage recruitment budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic investment of resources.
  • Coordinate staff training and onboarding initiatives, and establish best practices in recruitment communications and outreach.
  • Coordinate with team of assistant directors and campus experience team to oversee the daily operations of the Welcome Center.
  • Serve as a senior leader within the Office of Admissions, contributing to policy development, strategic planning, and cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Represent the University of Utah at national conferences, consortium meetings, and professional organizations to promote institutional visibility and stay informed of industry trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.





Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Master's degree in higher education, public administration, or related area preferred.

Preferences
Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree in higher education, public administration, or a related field, and those with demonstrated experience using CRM systems-particularly Slate. Additional desirable qualifications include success in managing recruitment efforts across all geographic and demographic markets, overseeing budgets, and leading large-scale events or outreach campaigns.
