The Director of the CLC Manufacturing Alliance is the administrative leader for a regional membership-based organization that serves manufacturers and related business partners. Key expectations include growing and managing the Alliance by building strong relationships with manufacturers, executing outreach and engagement strategies, and developing programs that directly serve local industry needs. Currently in the exciting startup phase, the Alliance is seeking a self-starter who thrives in building something new, working collaboratively, and moving quickly from idea to action.Strategic responsibilities span across business development, marketing and communications, event and meeting management, partnership collaboration, program development, and operational administration.
The Manufacturing Alliance will be influenced and supported through collaborative partnerships between Lake County Workforce Ecosystem organizations, statewide manufacturing associations, national professional associations, local K-12 school districts, and universities. This leader will provide oversight of strategies, develop a sustainable financial model, supervise staff (as the alliance expands), and be responsible for developing consistent practices that align with the College's mission, strategic plan, administrative practices, and values.

Summary of Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration (40%)
- Develop and implement a comprehensive membership strategy to attract and retain diverse stakeholders, including manufacturers, local businesses, vendors, professional associations, community organizations, and other relevant organizations in support of the Alliance's goals.
- Create innovative approaches to selling memberships that includes individual sales goals and collaborative efforts with peers who can support recruitment.
- Plan and run high-quality executive committee meetings, member meetings, workshops, and networking events that deliver value to members.
- Guide and support the Alliance executive committee with strong communications and quarterly reporting of Alliance metrics.
- Collaborate with the Foundation and the office of Resource Development to write grants and participate in the cultivation of major gifts.
- Develop, execute, and measure strategies informed by industry partners that support the regional manufacturing sector and the College's mission and strategic plan.
Operations Management (40%)
- Develop a sustainable financial plan and business model that establishes earned income streams for sustainability beyond the launch phase of the Alliance. Build and monitor the annual Alliance budget.
- Contribute to the development of strategic marketing and communication plans to generate membership, celebrate member accomplishments, and contribute to the positive image of the manufacturing industry.
- Guide the development and maintenance of the membership platform website.
- Maintain accurate contact lists, track engagement metrics, and report regularly on Alliance activities and growth.
- Monitor member satisfaction and proactively address concerns or opportunities to ensure a positive member experience.
- Ensure alignment to services, programs, and product development within the college's mission and strategic plan.
Program Development (15%)
- Research industry trends to structure programs and initiatives. Coordinate and execute new programs, training, and events to meet manufacturers' needs.
- Collaborate with Educational Affairs, Community and Workforce Partnerships, and Foundation team members to build benefits for members and monitor outcomes.
- Develop detailed project/program plans and track progress.
Other Duties (5%)
- Demonstrate solid commitment to CLC values, goals, and equity outcomes.
- Attend, conduct, and participate in meetings, seminars, committees, and conferences.
- Perform other duties as required.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Model College of Lake County Values at all times.
- Remain current and knowledgeable of all applicable Board Policy and related procedures. Remain knowledgeable and comply with all federal and state standards, and College Policies and procedures. Assure proper internal controls within all levels of the division or department, establish and utilize monitoring mechanisms and assure regular training of managers/supervisors and staff.
- Accountable for division/departmental expense processing including procurement of items and services, and accurate payroll and attendance for the division or department. Assure proper internal controls are in place, monitor and train staff. Accountable for maintenance of departmental records per federal, state and College of Lake County standards.
- Fosters regular clear and consistent communications within division/department; assuring communications are messaged at all levels of the division and/or department.
- Foster positive employee relations, assuring this is cascaded throughout all levels of managers and supervisors within the division and/or department, and that includes regular employee feedback, recognition and progressive discipline where needed. Assure timely and consistent performance evaluation processes are followed at all levels within the division or department.
- Support the growth and development of personnel within the division and/or department, assuring this support is cascaded throughout all levels of managers and supervisors within the division/department.
- Exercise appropriate discretion and judgment; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and documents. Avoid conflicts of interest. Report issues as they arise.
- Participate in Shared Governance; serve on institutional level councils, commissions and/or committees. Foster the encouragement of employees at all levels within the division/department to participate in committees, councils, commissions and/or projects.
Required Qualification(s)
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, manufacturing, sales, or related field; OR, associate's degree in business, marketing, manufacturing, sales, or related field
- A minimum of seven (7) years professional experience
- A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Effective written and oral communications skills
- Experience managing budgets
- Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualification(s)
- Experience working in the manufacturing sector
- Start-up or launch experience of new programs or organizations
- Experience in sales (product, services, or memberships) that has demonstrated metrics of success
- Successful securing and management of grants or philanthropic donations (application, award, management)
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
Salary: $93,000 - $100,700 The salary offered in this range will be based on education and experience.
Core Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekends, early mornings and nights as necessary. Local and regional travel required on a regular basis.
