Job Summary:
The Counseling Psychology (CPSY) Department in the USF School of Education invites applicants to apply for a non-tenure track, full-time term faculty positions (9 month appointments) in the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program starting in the Fall of 2025. We are seeking two talented and dedicated colleagues to join our MFT program on our Hilltop campus in San Francisco where they will participate in teaching and program-related activities within the MFT program.
The CPSY Department is a dynamic department that offers a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology with two different foci: Marriage and Family Therapy and School Counseling. Students may also have a second concentration in Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC). The MFT program is an applied program dedicated to preparing Master's-level practitioners to serve as licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT) and licensed professional clinical counselors (LPCC).
We are interested in candidates with experience working with populations who have been traditionally underserved or marginalized by systems. The Counseling Psychology Department has a long-standing commitment to train knowledgeable, socially conscious, and reflective professionals. This includes training professionals who are culturally responsive, dedicated to advancing social justice, and prepared to meet the challenges of working in complex mental health spaces. We are especially interested in candidates who utilize liberation frameworks. This is an ideal position for candidates passionate about teaching, and supporting the development of mental health clinicians.
Full Job Description:
Qualifications/Requirements: An earned doctorate (Ph.D./Psy.D/Ed.D.) in Counseling Psychology (or related field) is preferred. It is required that candidates be licensed or licensed eligible as psychologists or Marriage/Family Therapists. Specific teaching areas will be determined based on department needs and candidates' interests whenever possible. Successful candidates are also expected to contribute to the Department, College, and University through service work. Consistent with program philosophy, the successful candidates must be committed to providing multicultural content, equity, anti-racism, and social justice principles across all course work.
Additional Responsibilities: Advising/mentoring students, reading program applications or facilitating interviews during the admissions cycle, supporting adjunct instructor teaching, as well as curriculum support and program accreditation tasks. Further, we seek an individual who works collaboratively, collegially, and respectfully to promote the social justice mission of the department and programs.
