Under the general supervision of the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics the Game Operations Specialist is responsible for the coordination of all department sporting events, with an emphasis on fan and game day experience. Individual will be responsible for execution of logistics, providing lead work direction and training of support staff on game management, and event setup and breakdown. This position will have either a marketing or facilities tasks depending on the incumbents skills.

Job Summary:

Duties and responsibilities
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to game day and special department events.
  • Participate and assist with planning of special events such as Student-Athlete Awards Showcase and Welcome Back BBQ, Homecoming, Etc.
  • Management of student planning for all tabling and on campus student involvement activities.
  • Provide analysis and evaluation of athletics game operations and recommendations to senior athletic management in regard to liaison with Parking, UPD, Concessions, Special Events and Guest Services.
  • Provide lead work direction of game day staff, mascot, vendors, independent contractors and student staff and all scheduling and payroll; lead paraprofessional employee trainings and meetings.
  • Provide administrative recruitment support of student staff; provide lead work direction of student(s) and coordinate scheduling for games and events staff and process monthly payroll reports.
  • Orchestrate marketing effort to generate fans to all athletic events. Work with student groups, campus departments and coordinate with others on campus to enhance excitement for athletic events.
  • Coordinate the execution of all game day promotions for CSUSB athletic events. Connect with the Inland Empire community to generate excitement around CSUSB Athletics.
  • Develop and maintain the official Athletics facility calendar; coordinate all athletic department reservations for Athletics facilities.
  • Partner with CSUSB Facilities Management to help maintain all athletics facilities. This includes managing work orders, outside vendor work, ect.
  • The incumbent works closely with senior staff, sport administrators, coaches and the compliance office on contest schedules, and event management, including game day home and visiting team ticket operations.
  • Provide budget and purchasing analysis related to Game Operations Management.
  • Records management; primary liaison to visiting teams, officials, vendors, and related university personnel.
  • Other classification related duties and responsibilities assigned by appropriate administrator (MPP).

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, PLUS two years of related experience.

  • Working knowledge of, and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty
  • Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form.
  • Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
  • Valid CA drivers' license and insurance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and athletics administrative work experience PLUS two years of related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with application of NCAA, CCAA and CSU rules and regulations
  • Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques
  • Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form.
  • Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,598 - $5,417 per month

Classification Salary Range: $4,598 - $8,318 per month

The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Exempt/Probationary

Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Background Check
