Job Summary
The Office of Alumni Relations is seeking an experienced advancement professional for the position of Director, Alumni Engagement.
This position will support and partner with the Chief Alumni Relations Officer and the U Alumni Board of Governors in efforts to identify, attract, and cultivate relationships with the over 300,000 U alumni worldwide. The Office of Alumni Relations seeks to support and advance the University's goals and mission while developing an alumni network of value to alumni, current students, and future students of the U.
The Director of Alumni Engagement will provide the leadership, strategic direction, and coordination of the Alumni Relations Engagement team, which includes the responsibilities of regional and affinity chapters and communities, tailgates, Homecoming, Graduation season, business development and sponsorships, alumni engagement score and metrics development, data management, and the alumni scholarship program.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional whose priorities will be mentoring and growing a results-driven engagement and events team. They will work to continually improve alumni events and programming, and enhance and develop relationships with our valued campus partners, in Advancement and across the U.
The Engagement team leads the development of a robust engagement discovery program, with twenty regional chapters across the world and six affinity communities at home (and plans to grow). They are deeply focused on work with the Advancement Services department and campus partners in Alumni Relations to develop engagement metrics, grow the Alumni Engagement Score, and promote the use across campus of the CASE Alumni Engagement Metrics of Communication, Experiential, Philanthropic, and Volunteerism.
As the needs for scholarships for U students continue to grow, the Director, Engagement will also work with the Marketing Director to lead the efforts for alumni scholarships on U Giving Day, and the Leadership Annual Giving Officer for event sponsorships and other annual giving opportunities.

Responsibilities
- Identify, implement, and manage effective strategies to increase alumni engagement, regional discovery, and volunteer participation.
- Cultivate and build long-term relationships with alumni, alumni volunteers and board members.
- Create and implement a plan to identify and steward potential volunteers and engaged alumni.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of special events, including Homecoming, tailgates, and other special events.
- Engage members of the Alumni Board of Governors and develop relationships to increase their commitment and support for U Alumni.
- Prioritize the U Advancement values of Collaboration, Integrity, Empowerment, and Belonging.
- Cultivate an environment of accountability with respect to outcomes and activities.
- Mentor, coach, and inspire engagement team members, providing opportunities and continuous, authentic feedback to develop staff.
- Work closely with U Alumni marketing and annual giving staff on sponsorship solicitation and fulfillment, for U Alumni general brand opportunities and sponsorship-focused events like the 5K and golf tournament.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to cross-functional programs by collaborating with peers for change management, policy implementation, relationship management, and strategic communications.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
Masters degree in Business Administration, or related area preferred.
Preferences
- Excellent people and communication skills.
- Experience with CRM database software.
- Experience working within higher education annual giving, donor relations, or development.
- Must be able to work independently as well as effectively with diverse groups.

Work Schedule Summary: M-F 8-5, with potential hybrid option after probationary period (maximum 2 days/week working from home). Special events on evenings and weekends, as well as travel, will be necessary.
