Job Summary


The Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITLP) within the College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU Boulder is seeking a part-time Electronics Student Support Specialist to support hands-on undergraduate engineering instruction and the day-to-day operations of our electronics-focused teaching labs. This temporary, ~50% position will work directly with undergraduate engineering students, providing technical guidance in Arduino, basic circuitry, and through-hole soldering. The role will also manage laboratory inventory, equipment maintenance and repairs, and support ITL Program staff in fostering a supportive and inclusive hands-on learning environment.

Who We Are


The Integrated Teaching and Learning Program hosts or collaborates with other College of Engineering and Applied Science departments on many K-12 engineering education initiatives, offering a wide range of hands-on engineering opportunities for K-12 teachers and students, faculty and the general public. The award-winning ITL Program is committed to creating a more diverse student population at CU Boulder and broadening the exposure of K-12 students-particularly students of color, young women, low-income and first-generation college-bound students-to engineering.


What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Student Support & Technical Instruction:
  • Provide hands-on support to engineering students working with Arduino based microcontrollers, basic electronic circuits, and through-hole soldering.
  • Assist with instructional activities and hands-on skill-building workshops to support student learning in a collaborative environment.
  • Respond to technical questions, help students troubleshoot issues, and advance complex problems to full-time ITLP engineering staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with ITLP staff to support course and project needs.

Lab & Equipment Management:
  • Organize, track, and restock inventory of electronic components, consumables, and lab tools.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment (e.g., soldering stations, power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters) to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Keep lab spaces clean, organized, and aligned with university safety protocols.
  • Help maintain signage, safety protocols, and instructional materials to support a safe and student-friendly environment.

Other Duties:
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned, which may include supporting outreach and recruitment events or participating in professional development activities.




What We Can Offer

  • The starting pay range for this position will be $20.00 - $31.25 per hour.

What We Require

  • Two years of hands-on experience with electronics including circuit design and assembly, microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino), single-board computers (e.g. Raspberry Pi), soldering, or other closely related technical fields.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may substitute for on a year-for-year basis.
