A.T. Still University of Health Sciences (ATSU), the founding institution of osteopathic healthcare, invites nominations and applications for the position of dean, Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (MOSDOH) in Kirksville, Mo., which includes a clinic located in St. Louis, Mo. ATSU is a premier, multidisciplinary health sciences university committed to whole person healthcare, education, scholarship, and service.

Position Overview

The dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer for MOSDOH, leading a mission-driven dental school known for innovation, community partnerships, and service to the underserved. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, visionary leader with a deep commitment to student and faculty success, interprofessional education, and academic excellence. This individual will foster a culture of integrity, inclusion, and continuous improvement while advancing the school's impact in oral health education and public health.

The dean collaborates closely with the deans of ATSU's colleges/schools and the Missouri campus president. The dean may reside in St. Louis or Kirksville with regular travel to the other location (4-5 days per month).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all academic, clinical, fiscal, and student affairs at MOSDOH
  • Oversee accreditation efforts, including the CODA self-study process
  • Recruit, mentor, and support a diverse and talented faculty and staff
  • Strengthen and expand partnerships with community health centers throughout Missouri
  • Ensure excellence in predoctoral education, continuing education, and community-based clinical training
  • Represent MOSDOH across the University and in professional organizations, promoting innovation and collaboration
  • Lead philanthropic and grant development efforts to support institutional growth and innovation
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • DDS, DMD, PhD, or EdD degree preferred
  • At least ten years of progressive leadership experience in dental education, with a proven track record in academic innovation and program development
  • Demonstrated success in leading CODA accreditation efforts and managing complex educational operations
  • A strong background in community-based dental education and a commitment to improving access to care for underserved populations
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire trust, collaboration, and a shared vision among faculty, staff, students, and external partners
  • A leadership style marked by transparency, humility, and a deep appreciation for the mission and values of ATSU
