Job Summary:

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a part-time Research Specialist (Research Services Entry Professional). This position is a key member of the school's Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity & Diabetes (LEAD) Center and will be responsible for study participant recruitment and data collection for one or more LEAD Center studies.

This position requires an individual with an interest in public health research in child and adolescent populations, as well as data collection skills (i.e., interviewing study participants, administering questionnaires), the ability to be self-directed, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect physical measurements of study participants, including weight, height, and other diet and physical activity measures.

Administer health-related questionnaires to study participants.

Process and ship blood samples to labs for analysis.

Collect and enter data from visit forms in REDCap.

Document, organize, and synthesize data collection procedures in the manual of operations.

Coordinate scheduling and logistics of study visits and program events.

Participate in study-related travel and offsite clinic events as needed.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) position that reports directly to the Project Manager.

The LEAD Center is a groundbreaking research center that investigates and seeks to understand the developmental origins of health and disease, particularly obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the complex interplay of environmental exposures, genetic and epigenetic processes in critical developmental periods across the lifecourse. LEAD scientists work with data from multiple human cohort studies housed within the Center (Healthy Start, Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes [ECHO], Exploring Perinatal Outcomes among Children [EPOCH], SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth, Diabetes in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults [DiCAYA], and Discovery of Risk Factors for Type 2 Diabetes in Youth [DISCOVERY]).

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with specialized data collection systems like the BOD POD and REDCap database system.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of health or nutrition practices and chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to allow for occasional off-site study visits.
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and/or overnight travel with advance notice.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting target salary for this position has been established as $50,000 - $55,000.

The above salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
