Job Summary

Responsible for planning, developing and coaching the team within Smith College and NCAA Division III rules and regulations. Responsible for the recruitment and development of competitive student-athletes. This is an academic year position.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Essential Functions

Plan instructional practice for the track & field program with a special emphasis on sprints, jumps and multi events. Conduct organized and objective based practices. Enhance individual as well as team skills. Utilize various coaching strategies. Improve student-athlete's talents and skill sets. Demonstrate and communicate expertise of sport and events. Sustain a high level of excellence in the quality of the student-athlete experience and competitive success. Be knowledgeable of and abide by all college policies, NCAA policies and rules as well as all NEWMAC guidelines and procedures. (40%)

Assist the Director of Cross Country, Track & Field in the operations of the program including budgeting ,traveling, purchasing and facility usage. Assist in scheduling opponents, uniform and equipment distribution and meal planning.

Recruit prospective student-athletes to attend and compete for Smith College. Develop an annual recruiting plan and identify and attract talent. Correspond with prospects and their families using a variety of communication channels.

(40%)

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience: 1 to 5 years experience

Knowledge of: Sprints, jumps and multi events

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education: Graduate Degree

Required Experience: 1 to 5 years experience

Previous collegiate level experience
